FANTASTIC!! I understand your hesitancy but it really is worth it. You deserve to have your best life and you're on your way (weigh?) but figuring out why you think the way you do is half the battle. Great job and we're here for you :D

Good for you Alison!!!  I've had therapy in the past and haven't ruled it out.  It certainly helped a lot, along with OA.  It took me to have WLS before it all sunk in, but it's been great to have some insight when I hit rough patches like I have the past few days.  Just sharing about your food demons here is a giant step to being open and ready for therapy.  Good luck!!!

Good luck. I hope it works for you.

I'm so anti-therapy from past issues that had nothing to do with me (long story) that I haven't been able to go in that direction yet. Don't know if I will ever be open to it.

I'm so excited for you and the plastics. That's wonderful.

I didnt think Id EVER get to this point, but honestly, I really just want to be healthy from all perspectives, and it took a lot for me to realize that I'm not...but, just like WLS, I believe that it's only beneficial when you are ready for it. And up to this point, I have not been ready and it would have done me no good.

Good for you! You're doing the right thing.

So courageous of you to attempt something you have such strong negative feelings about.

I'm pulling for you.

2 questions:
1. What books have you been reading on eating disorders????
2. Why Lancaster? Yes, it's the  desert!

I'll get the names when I get home of the books....

As for Lancaster, it's dirt cheap and I have to save $$ for this adventure into plastic surgery. Very worth the sacrifice for 6-12 months (probably closer to 6 because I can not handle to cold here during the winter!!)

Are you commuting into the LA Basin everyday? That traffic can be intense. I'm sure that just back to Glendale has got to be over an hour without traffic. You've got some major dedication, girl!

Yup, it gets cold there! The last time I drove through Lancaster on my way to Palm Springs there was actually snow on the ground.

You've done so well, and I know you're making the right choice now. I don't know if I'd have made it to goal without therapy - I was a mess (still am, just less so, to be honest).

{{Hugs}} Hope you can find ways to open up and work your issues through.
