Surgery is now paid..just waiting for passport!! mini vent
I made the final payment today for my surgery. I have a date reserved already - Aug 10th. But if my passport comes sooner than later I am going to try and move it up. They still had some July dates open. It is becoming real now. I am scared about going to Mexico alone - although my dad & stepmom are only 30 mins away in San Diego. I worry that my 6 year old will have a hard time with mom being gone (he is autistic). I had emergency gallbladder a few years ago and have given birth 4 times. I like to say I have a high tolerance for pain. But what if the pain is bad?? I am allergic ti morphine. will something else work as well?? And what if I don't fit in the airplane seat. And...what if....
I am sure alot of you have/are or will go through this as well. I am just trying to concentrate on getting everything I will need (post op) and also exercising. I will need to do a 2week pre op diet. I guess it won't hurt to start now right???? That way if I get an earlier date I am all set.
Thanks for letting me vent. Be blessed!!

What kind of preop diet are you doing? If it's low carb, but you still get to eat solids, go for it! The more you can lose before surgery, the healthier you'll be that day, and the better odds you have of a smoother surgery and recovery.
We all play the "what if" game before surgery. It's good in a way, though... it means you're thinking about this very seriously and are doing everything you can to be prepared. If anything, it's a good sign that you're going to do a great job!
Take a deep breath. You'll only be gone for a few days. Your son will be fine, and the fact that your parents are nearby is great. As far as the pain meds, talk to your surgeon's patient coordinator. I'm sure they can tell you what your other options are.

I have a rather low tolerance for pain (why the h*ll am I even considering PS??? ughh) and seriously, it wasn't bad at all. There isnt really an incision type pain - the WORST pain is freaking gas, go figure. It's not even a steady, constant pain - just comes and goes, so it's really not that bad. I hurt myself when I fell 2 weeks post op and apparently ripped a stitch inside - that was painful. Lesson learned - dont fall.
You'll be uncomfortable for a week or two and then it will be a distant memory.

You guys are all awesome!!!Thanks for the support. I am going to try 2 meal replacement shakes and 1 high protein low carb meal. Then once I have my date firmed up, I will do the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior - suggested by the doc due to my high bmi. And justeric78 thanks for the laugh. I will stop worrying about the size of my own ass. LOL. I will be sure to get lots of prayer before my departure and will think happy thoughts the whole time!!!
