I drink it strong and I drink it black. I usually only have one cup in the a.m. and I'm good for the day but on occasion I'll have an after-dinner cup or an espresso.

Obviously I won't be having that for a while, but is black coffee a no-no down the road? I would miss it horribly.

I drink protein coffee like its my last beverage on this earth. If you like it black then it may not be fore you but I just posted in the main. Board compulsively about this love. Coffee does though create lots of acid so get it under control first. Also before someone else says it, check with your Dr.

my first cup is a half caf protein coffee mixture (sometimes frozen goodness) but i also didnt start doing half caf until i could drink over 64oz no problem because i have to make up for the caffiene in equal amounts of "clear liquids" every other cup of coffee i drink after that is decaf because it counts as a clear liquid

I was going to wait till maintenance to enjoy coffee again, but once I was allowed after 3 months, I couldn't resist. I had always struggled getting in my liquids, so being able to tolerate coffee was a huge relief for me. It does cause some acid issues, but I have been off my Nexium for a few months now, and can manage the periodic reflux with just tums or gaviscon when needed.

You do have to work it into your calorie and carb intake. If you find yourself on the upper scale regularly, this may not be worth it for you. Once I add in my totals for the day including my coffee, I am usually around 800-900 calories, because I take mine as a double double. However, I try to off set it by making sure my protein is over 70g which sometimes makes me have no room for veggies.

Another reason I decided to incorporate coffee back in to my diet, is because it was the only thing that has helped to keep me regular. Without it, I can be backed up for 4 days. My fiber and veggie intake was way too low to have any effect, so the extra calories where worth it for me.

I have coffee and have had no problems.  I do always have decaf and cut out the cream.

I drink it daily.  No problems.  I think I drink more than I did pre op.  Maybe it is my transfer addiction!
