What's wrong with Gold Peak Diet tea...

I love this stuff. This is a sure way to get in my 64 oz of fluids. It is zero calories, fats, carbs, and sugars..55 mg of sodium. No aftertaste like I experience with diet snapple, turkey hill, and arizona brands.

It is so delicious that I am sure that it is a reason I should not have it lol.

So all you vets out there give it to me straight... whats wrong with it??

 Thanks

Shanelle

ingredients

water, natural flavors, tea, caramel, color, aspartame, acesulfame, potassium, phosphoric acid.

phenylketonurics: contains phenylalanine

Not that I know what any of these big words mean but it must be bad right?

I hate reading labels...just say caffeine, artificial sweetners, or whatever the case may be. smh

So now that you have more information, please chime in and tell me why my sleeve should not have it?? I have such a hard time getting in my water intake. I get in my protein because I still drink at least one premier shake a day.

Confession time...I know that I am a slow loser because I have not been working out lately.  I also have not been getting in my liquids.  Though I have not had any chocolate or cake or things like that, I have nibbled on pretzels, chips, and corn curls.  It back on track for me.  I have been struggling to get to onderland for over a month and I am only 4 pounds away.  I have not lost weight since April 30th and kept it off.  I got down to 200.4  two weekends ago and gained the four pounds back and can't get rid of them..

Please give me the criticism I so deserve...I need some tough love.  I keep telling myself you know how this garbage taste, why do you need to eat it.

Oh most importantly I have not given up buffalo wings nor fried wings. Although I can't eat many, I need to cut it out.

Thanks OH Fam

I drink the Diet Golden Peak too. I live this stuff. I emailed Golden Peak to ask about caffeine in them. They told  me all their tea is natural  and tea itself has some caffeinie.

aspartame IS NOT NATURAL....

I know a LOT of people around here use products containing it and/or sucralose but I choose not to....  my research has shown them to be dangerous chemicals that Id rather not risk using....never mind that everytime I have tried I end up with a headache and have to deal with the aftertaste

If you have no adversion to artificial sweeteners, then I dont see much of an issue with GOlden Peak....

That said, the aforementioned site fooducate has this to say about Diet Golden Peak:

Contains controversial artificial sweeteners
There is controversy as to the safety of artificial sweeteners consumed over a long period of time. Some studies have linked artificial sweeteners to cancer.

Contains phosphoric acid
Phosphoric acid is an additive that gives soda its tangy flavor and makes it more acid than lemon juice or vinegar. A vast amount of sweetener is then used to mask and balance the acidity.
Phosphoric acid has been linked to lower bone density in some epidemiological studies, including a discussion in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Bottled teas have almost NO antioxidants
Bottled tea is not a good source of antioxidants.
The antioxidants in tea give it a bitter taste. In order to make bottled tea more palatable, it is watered down. Additionally, there is a continuous reduction in antioxidant levels from the time when tea is brewed until it reaches the supermarket shelf. This means not a lot of antioxidants are left over by the time you drink your tea.
Save your money and improve your health by brewing at home.

Thank you for taking the time to look this up.  There is alot of talk on the aspartame so I think I wll try and stay away from this sweetner.

There is no difference between drinking this tea and all of the other diet drinks touted on this board.   If you enjoy it then have it !    :)
