Congratulations on your weight loss and your many significant accomplishments. You are right, it is all about the choices that one makes, as to whether or not, the WLS is successful. I started realizing that at about 4-5 months out. Attitude is so much a part of this journey. I don't feel deprived. I CHOOSE not to eat certain foods, which changes the dynamics so much. At least for me it does. Making a choice puts us in control, not food.

Wishing you much success in your future journey, and I believe that you will be able to accomplish whatever you set your mind to do.

Good for you!!!

Gail

Happy B'day! I so admire how you tell YOUR story like it is! No sugar coated crap-o-lah from you - ever. (scared me a little when I was a newbie, but not now! I get it.)

I am so inspired by all you have done to achieve your weight loss. The changes you have made are nothing less than miraculous - really. I will say again, you are one of the reasons I got off my butt and started exercising - so thanks!

Sharing how you've learned that it's all about your choices is a great reminder for us all. It is so important for us all to hear that over and over and over and over....

You rock! I have the utmost respect for you and what you've accomplished!

Simply incredible, Alison!

I always look forward to your posts as you speak the hard truth and not just what others always want to hear. You post your downfalls and struggles as much as your achievements and that's commendable!

Congratulations on all of your success and we all know you will continue to kick ass!

Happy B-day!  Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts - there is a lot of wisdom for me in what you write.

In one of your replies, when you talked about realizing how much of your weight loss is the choices you've made (after seeing someone stop losing after two months), that was like a light bulb going on for me.  Taking ownership of my success in every area of life, not just WL, is an issue for me, and I think I need to follow your example.

And of course - you look amazing!  Really like a whole new person.  I understand what you mean by a re-birthday, and it is awesome that you've made other life changes to go along with your new physical self.

For me, I know the sleeve helps a lot but I feel like from what ive seen since ive been on these boards for years - the more credit people place on their sleeves, the less personal responsibilty they tend to take. So my approach from the beggining has been that this is all about me and my choices and when my will power totally fails, I have a back up plan. And that's all my sleeve is - a back up. I do not and will not rely on it to lose the weight. I know i'm kind of an outlier in general with my attitude and opinions, but at the end of the day, we all have to find what works for us, and I think it's working for me.

By the time I get to goal and have plastics, i'm pretty sure i'll wake up one day and think "who am I??".
