I am 6 weeks Post Op can someone please tell me what they are eating such as "real" food/meat I need ideas bad.  I have had pork chop, chicken (which I'm sick of), soft fish (which I don't really like seafood) tuna fish, Turkey Meatballs,  beef hamburgers. I don't know what to fix ... I only lost 3 lbs the past two weeks I know I need to up my water, exercise and I was trying to stay within 600cal and now that I can have real food not mush I'm doing maybe 700cal, Under 40 carbs low on fat and sugars... Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks

I'd stick in the chicken, fish, turkey family.  Focus on lean low fat protein sources.  Work with how you fix it, for example I will grind up chicken and make sweet italian sausage with it.  I may dice it and marinate it in a sesame-soy sauce mixture then stir fry it.  I may also marinate it in a adoro-ancho-chipotle mix, then grill and shred it.

You dont have to stay with just the grilled format.

I'm still on soft foods, but I agree with Rob, he gives pretty good advice . Some things included on my plan that I'm loving right now are salmon, sea scallops, low salt sliced turkey breast with laughing cow cheese, light mini babybel cheese, various egg dishes, shredded chicken (you can make this a variety of ways, especially in the slow cooker) and a version of pizza burgers (obviously I don't partake in the bread but I use ground lean ground turkey with lowfat mozz and it's a great source of protein).

I am not saying this works for everyone, but i increased my carbs a bit and it changed my world. I went to 50 and now i am at about 60 (a little more when i exercise hard) and i have been more satisfies and losing. I am heavier to begin with and so maybe my body works this way...but i just started seeing what my body responds to best. Seriously on days when i am not so tight on my carbs, I will lose 2.5 lbs. I keep my protein high though and make good carb decisions....not junk stuff...more fruit and whole grains. Just well rounded. It works for me...I know it doesn't for every body type though.

There is also something to be said for having a more flexible day that jumpstarts your metabolism.

Also, plain Greek yogurt has a lot of protein. Today I need some extra (I am only at 600 calories and 56 grams of protein) so i am going to have 1/2 cup for 12 protein.

cheese on a piece of deli meat with a cpl thin slices of avocado! YUM! and no prep or cooking. Tomorrow I'm making tacos and I'll eat the meat and cheese with a cpl little pieces of tomato and lettuce, can't wait! Try checking out theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She has great meal ideas and recipes. You could spend forever checking them out!

One of my favs is Ricotta cheese mixed with vanilla Torani syrup and then I dice one or two small strawberries and mix it together, top with a few toasted almond slices. High protein and tastes like dessert. YUM!

At that point, I ate half a turkey burger with mushrooms and swiss for dinner a lot, as well as chili (turkey or beef).

Hmmmm...  I'll think of more, but those were my two go-to dinners at work during the early time.

Chicken or turkey sausages are good.  Meat and veggies in the crock-pot -- pot roast worked well.  I just made a great chicken enchilada chili in the crockpot -- chicken breasts, cream of chicken soup, can of enchilada sauce, black beans, corn or kidney beans if you want -- top with cheese and greek yogurt.

Taco meat with some tomatoes, olives, salsa and greek yogurt for sour cream sounds good.  Sloppy joe filling in a lettuce wrap.

I make a "crustless pizza bake," which is basically ground beef and/or sausage mixed with spaghetti/pizza sauce and spread in a pie plate, and then topped with cheese and pizza toppings.  It tastes like pizza and I don't really miss the crust, because I always liked the toppings best anyway.

I really try to think of foods that I like/have always enjoyed and just alter them to work better with my sleeve -- which usually just means eliminating the noodles, crust, bun, etc.
