I agree. Don't be one of those people that think WLS is easy but it IS A GREAT TOOL for those of us who have had unsuccessful attempts at diets. You do NOT need to be OBESE for the rest of your life!
Just ask a lot of questions, be open minded, do your research and go for it!

Boy you said it just perfect. It does require work and effort on your part. It is a tool for you to use. It is NOT a magical cure. You should exercise too. But, it does allow you to have the restriction and I NEVER feel hungry. We have what we call "head hunger." ast first. That is our old brain trying to tell us eat--you have to learn to reprogram your brain.
You were so used to eating large amounts of food and now you do not require large amounts of food, but your old thinking brain plays nasty tricks on you. After a little while you new thinking brain and stomach really do learn to work together quite well.
You can be a success story too!!

Congrats on your success. It looks like WLS helped you achieve your goals. Would you share what you have done and the life style changes you made to keep the weight off? Very inspirational.
But I disagree that WLS is THE answer to becoming healthy and making a life style change. I have several friends who believed in the simplicity of that statement, had VSG, and are still very unhealthy.
WLS is a great tool if and when people choose to become committed and dedicated to a healthy life style. Without that commitment, VSG is another temporary diet attempt with lasting consequences.
Sorry for my little rant - but I see too many people who jump into surgery believing its the ultimate solution.

If you read anything that I written, I ALWAYS say you need to start making healthy food choices and exercise from day 1. I also say it is a "tool" to allow you to make lifestyle changes. It is NOT a magical cure. I say it requires effort and work on your part. If you do NOT have your head in the right place you will not be healthy!.
My lifestyle changes included picking chicken, or fish, or pork and even black beans for my protein. I start my morning everyday for the last 3 1/2 years with a Protein Drink and get 30 grams of protein each morning--and that is my breakfast. I eat very little red meat any more. I eat whole grain foods--not whole wheat, but whole grains. I have fresh veggies and some fresh fruit everyday.
I have learned to cook entirely different than I used to cook. I use Olive Oil for so many things now and never did before. I do have small amount of desert now and then, mostly things I bakes--I use Almond Flour for baking. I know we eat a lot more at home and used to go out and eat more.
I walk for exercise and my husband and I walk 4 miles a day 7 days a week. I am thinking about doing some Pilate's classes too. I follow a low carb plan really when it comes to food. I eat small amounts of food and take the time to chew and enjoy the taste of things.
I hope that helps. I never feel like I am on a diet, because I have made a lifestyle change that is HEALTHY.
I like the things you said because for some people that is true--this still make POOR food choices--but I learned I can't save the whole world--they have to want to change. They NEVER gave up their bad eating habits. However if you want to be healthy it is possible with the sleeve.

Suzanne
