It's a learning journey. For sure.
Try to put the ff greek yogurt into a protein shake with a shot or two of your favorite Torani sf syrup. It pumps up the protein without adding a lot of calories or carbs.
Keep looking for a protein shake you can tolerate. It is the most important thing you can do.
I use one I get at wal mart. Pure Protein, vanilla creme. In pre made cans or the powder mix. It seems to mix well with a lot of things.
good luck,
donna

It's the carnation and milk that are killing you for carbs. I do use milk but only after working out. While it does have protein it also has a ton of carbs. You are still early out and I'm assuming on mushies? It's harder at the mushy stage. I ate a lot of beans so my carbs stayed around 50g but once I could do regular solids I cut the beans back and stay under 40g. Obviously all people are different and I wouldn't have so much of a problem with the carbs for you if the sugar wasn't so high!
I'm not a big fan of protein drinks, but they REALLY ARE NOT AN OPTION. Think of them as medicine that you must take. Horrible tasting or not. Right now my stomach is rebelling against them but as horrible as thye make me feel I"m still drinking because it's not an optional thing. Definitely try and think of new ways to get the protein up. Talapia (if cleared) is a nice low calorie high protein soft fish and pretty much takes on the flavor of whatever you put on it. I mix whatever seasoning I want in a tbsp of greek yogurt and slather it on, yummy, ups the protein even more and gives it a bit of lube to get it down.

Why not mix the shake with water? That's what I've been doing all along. Probably doesn't taste as good as it would with milk but I don't want the extra carbs or calories.
I've heard others using unsweetened almond milk too. There's no milk on my eating plan so I haven't looked into it myself yet. If milk is on your plan, that might be an option too.

I'm with ametzger, the Premier brand pre-made shakes are the best I have tried...I do prefer to make my own with ff milk and Jillian Michaels whey protein powder....which is very inexpensive @ Wal-Mart and I love the taste of both the chocolate and vanilla....I toss in a 1/2 banana and some frozen pineapple with the vanilla and have my own little pina colada! I've also thrown in a banana with the chocolate (yum) and added peanut butter to the chocolate! that is amazing, a drinkable reese's peanut butter cup!
I am going to be a little repetitious, but it's important. Mushies are a hard time for keeping carbs low, and this doesn't probably have anything to do with why you're stalling now, but it will be problematic in the future. Trust me.
Find a protein supplement you can tolerate that is low in carbs and then suck it up and drink it. Premier is great. I also really like Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle. Very low carbs and tastes like chocolate milk even mixed with water. I also have samples of some of the other flavors I will send you if you PM me, the ones that are fruity and can be mixed with water.
Mix them with 8 ounces of water and drink them, even if you have to hold your nose. This is very important. You don't have to like them, you have to tolerate them. Drink as many supplements as you need to hit 70 g of protein a day. It might take 3 at first (or 2 Premiers) but you must make this your number 2 priorty, after hydration. This will not have to be a forever thing (probably), but you have to figure out how to get your protein in or you will start cannibalizing your lean muscle mass.
Use almond milk (or almond-coconut milk) instead of cow's milk. It has much fewer carbs. Tastes very good - I use it in my coffee with my protein every morning.
This is a very critical time, both in terms of healing and weight loss, and getting that protein in CANNOT be under-emphasized.
Happpy is right on (as usual!) with the almond milk (unsweetened 35 to 40 cal/cup) in place of nonfat milk. I read about it on OH and it saved me a lot of carbs. I use one and a half scoops of Unjury unflavored whey protein with diet - NOT SUGAR FREE - hot chocolate mix to start the day with 30 gms of protein. I find it keeps me from getting hungry in the morninings plus I've got at least half my protein for the day. The diet hot chocolate is about 20 to 25 cals and about 5 carbs, the Unjury is 120 cal and no carbs and the almond milk is 35-40 cal with 1 carb. You can use instant coffee crystals or even a cup of coffee when your plan lets you add coffee to change up the breakfast menu. Good luck and hope this helps.

My NUT told me to concentrate on getting 60 -80 g protein and not to worry too much about the carbs. Of course, avoid them when you can. I use the Muscle Mix Light powders or RTD shakes, which to me taste much better than some of the zero carb shakes.
