Out of state surgery

I am having Revision to VSG with Dr. Umbach on June 15, so I am staying at the Excalibur and then at Circus Circus, basically 3 days at each hotel. Can anyone tell me about their experience with Dr. Umbach, especially if they were out of state. What did you do from the time you were released until you saw him again on Monday???
My parents and 10 year old son will be with me. I want to be as comfortable as possible. We are also driving home to Arizona on Monday. Any advice is welcome.

I had surgery with Dr Umbach in March. I think it went really well. I woke up feeling nauseous and they gave me some medicine for that. I had the first surgery of the day and I left the surgery center before noon. I was a little worried about not recovering in a hospital but was a cash patient and this was the way I could afford it. Now I will say that it was the best decision I could have made. It was nice recovering in the hotel room. I would take my pain medicine go to sleep and wake up naturally (not because someone is waking you to take your vitals). I would then drink some fluid walk the hallways and take my medicine and do it all over again. By the second evening I got up and took a shower and we went to a casino for about an hour. I got tired very easily, it could have been from the medicine though. The third day we went out a few hours. The follow up with Dr Umbach was on Monday morning. It was quick he just basically asked how I felt, he didn't even check my incisions. It was a long day because we did not fly out until that night, we extended our checkout time a few hours so I could nap a little. He encouraged me to leave in the pain pump so I did and took it out myself when I got home. You could definitely tell the difference after it was taken out. It worked really well at controlling the pain in the abdomen.
I am about two months out and I have lost about 40 lbs including 15 I lost pre op. I am very happy I had this done. I had a fairly easy recovery without complications. Good luck to you! Feel free to ask anything I did not cover here.
