Didn't read your original post, but, like others and yourself said, "Your journey, your life"!

I don't follow food advice from OH, I follow my NUT and Surgeon, and my tummies.... I eat an even balanced diet, carbs and all!  (Protein first of course)  My NUT and surgeon about fell out their chairs when they saw I was only getting 6 carbs in a day, said a minimum of 130 for brain function.  So I've added fruits and veggies.  But if I followed some of OH folks, that would be the end of the world for my weight loss and I may change the stats of success.

Happily I've exceeding all expectations so far and I will continue to do ME...  Be YOU!

I find it hard to believe that folks that have had issue with food their entire life can change so drastically so quickly.  Its a lifetime change, you'll get there, just trust in yourself!

Enjoy your journey as much as you can...

Good luck

I just wanted to say... I hate you for being able to eat a bagel . I'm 6 months out and still can't do any bread. It's a blessing, really, but man bagels are good.

Yeah you're right, i havdn't thought about that.  i'm 9 months out and the thought of bread makes me cringe.  That's a lot of food to be able to fit in.

Nope not heroin but an addiction. We all are addicts obviouly. I think as long as you are happy and not harming yourself...do your thing. Sliping and eating something bad no big deal. Any addictipn can be dangerous. I think the thing to look at is. Is eating a bagel once in awhile affecting your life? Probubly not. The only behavior that's concerning is anything harmful physically or mentally. Now on the other side of things you can eat yourself to death. Overeating can be as serious as any chemical addiction. I have aunts to prove that one. They are dying from the complications of an eating addiction. The key factor they share is denial. But if that's not you...forget the food nazis.

But are we all addicts?  I don't consider myself one.  I was hungry, i ate until i wasn't.  Isn't that what most everyone does? I'm not addicted to carbs either. Isn't it possible that some of our pathologies are different?

Nothing is absolute...there will always be exeptions right? You have to decide for yourself. Than look at what you consider to be an addict. No one can answer for anyone...but if it looks like a duck..lol you know. Only my view...and opinion....you know what they say about those.

Speaking from over 50 years experience being overweight, obese or morbidly obese, I just want to say the following:

We all got on the operating table because of disordered eating.  Many of us were probably unable to resist the call of the food.  That party in the mouth desire would over ride what we knew to be the better choices.

For me, each time post op that I made a poor choice made it that much easier the next time to make the poor choice again.  It's much harder to pull it back in once it starts.

This isn't "aimed" at the original poster.  Just said with love as something to consider.  We all got here for a reason.
