My Dr & NUT both stress the concept that if you aren't willing to change your life style, you will not change your life. As long as you let ANY food have control over you,, you will have the same outcome you always have had.

I have always been a person that could justify just about ANYTHING, but in this journey, my quality of life and my overall health is priority. There will be plenty of time to experiment with moderation of certain foods after I reach goal.

I have cut entire classes of food out of my diet and still refrain from them now that I'm at goal because I am a morbidly obese food addict in a thin persons body. In my opinion, while you are in active weight loss you have to be extremely careful on what you let back into your diet because one thing will lead to another and soon enough your once in a while treat turns into an every day thing.

Just be careful. I hope this doesn't happen to you. I STILL have to watch what I put in my mouth. Some foods will make me want to eat more junk... They just trigger me for some reason. Like any type of cracker or sweets. I'm 2 years post op and I still have yet to have ANY candy, ice cream or pastry. These were my "drug of choice" and I NEVER want to be back under their control.

Just my experience. I really do hope this is not the case for you.

Yours was the best response to me..you explained that what she did didn't work for you.You explained that you hoped by her eatting what she did it wouldn't cause her to continue.Like it would for you.You explained your opinion.what works for you but in my opinion were not negative. You got your point across in a nice way expressing your opinion but also letting her know your concern for her.Wish more people posted like you

What happens in 6 or 12 months when your capacity expands a bit (very normal - happens to a lot of people) and then you can eat the whole thing?? How will you stop yourself from doing that?

I firmly believe the first 6-12 months is key for building good habits. Because when you get later in the game, it gets harder and those new habits help you stay on track. McD and bagels this early out... Well, it scares me to think what lies ahead.

I personally did not go your route because it moderation and thinking that giving in once in awhile was ok. I simply couldn't do it. Its what got me to 246 pounds.

At 5 months out, personally, I have learned that I am most successful when I fight through my cravings and stick to plan. The longer on plan, the less cravings. I haven't had simple carbs in so long now, I've lost all my cravings, even during my TOM!

I DO think moderation is key for long term success but during WL, try to minimize going off plan. For example, 3 months out I took a long time planned trip to WDW and completely went of plan but also walked 16,000 steps a day.

Good luck in your journey!

I had my own long response, and it disappeared.  So I'm probably supposed to just make it brief.  This isn't the Army, and you get to do anything you want.  You get to find your own path, make your own decisions, and find what works for you.

The McDonalds Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel would not work for me, and my response is cautionary because of that fact, not because I am invested in whether you have a Bacon Egg and Cheese bagel or not.

Those foods are designed - engineered, really - to be as craving-inducing as possible so we will buy more.  They are difficult for normal eaters to moderate.  In my experience, if I had been able to eat a 1/2 of one at 10 weeks, I would be able to eat a whole one now.  I binged on those kinds of foods, and they trigger all kinds of cravings.  Including, eating in the car, eating in secret, mindless driving from drive-through to drive-through.

Sometimes those cravings are sneaky.  I wouldn't want one tomorrow, but I would start finding myself trying to make opportunities to incorporate it into my food plan (just when I travel? just on Fridays?).

I almost feel like you want to get attention by posting this. You want to see how many hits you can get like last time.

You are only hurting yourself, and a year from now you will disappear because you can't/won't make goal. Please get some counseling.

You are not a dog that "deserves" food for whatever reason...work, etc.

There, I said it.
