CLEARED TO SWEAT!- post gallbladder surgery
Yeah, I'm one of those people who enjoy exercising. Food was always the hard part for me; especially since I started bingeing around the age of 8. Well the gallbladder sidelined me for a while. I walked the neighborhood- first= .25 miles, then=1 mile, then 2 miles., today =2.8 miles.
So here is the thing: During my post gallbladder removal follow-up visit, my surgeon (same surgeon for VSG) said that I was cleared to resume my regular exercise. This surprised me. I'm at the start of week 4 post-op for gallbladder surgery. He pretty much said that I was good to go after 2 weeks of not lifting more than 20 pounds. Now I know that I still felt some 'pulling' at my incisions during week 3. So I doubt that I was really back to normal. I did find 1 website online that said that laproscopic gallbladder removal had a shorter than 6 weeks recovery period.
Bottom line. I'm back in the gym tomorrow. I may not run or do planks, but I will walk the incline and do squats.
If you had lap-gallbladder removal, when did you go back to strenuous exercise?

I am 1 week post gallbladder surgery and cant even walk 20 min (was easily walking an hour before). Still have sharp stabbing pain on my right side - same pain i had with gallbladder. Did you experience this? Incisions are not painful but I dont think I could exercise hard yet even without the stabbing pain.
I was told that I could go back at 4 weeks out...but to listen to my body. If something hurt (i.e. sharp pain in side) stop right away. You are at risk for a hernia. But my surgeons said that if I did activities that don't engage my core I am good. So yes to joggin, eliptical, etc.... I started back at 4 weeks with my kickboxing class and did great. But I didn't do the burpies, sit ups or planks until after 6 weeks!
