Hi There!  I'm considering having the VSG in a few month in Mexico.  I'd be very interested in speaking with Post Op patients that are further along say 2 years or more post op of Dr Aceves and Dr Alvarez.   These are the two doctors I'm still on the fence which one to choice.  I have spoken to a few post op patients of both doctors that more recently got the sleeve.  (No, I think one patient of doctor Alvarez was post op longer.)   But now I'm more interested in hearing from patients that had the surgery done by either of these 2 doctors 2 or more years ago.  If you are able to talk with me can you post below and than I'll private message you my number.  Thank you so much!  ~P.S. Please too I want to hear it all.  Not just positive experiences!  Both Dr. A's have good reviews but someone point out to me on the other website there was some negative feedback on one of them.  Thanks!

I am nearly 3 years out with Dr. Alvarez.  Not sure about what negative you heard, but with Dr. Alvarez I know one lady locally who had a leak with him (godsgrace) and there was another human who maybe lost 20ish? pounds and did not lose any further (lurknomore).

When I came here a lady politicaljunkie2 had issues with persistent nausea but that turned out to be just her gastro system and a lady recently had kind of wonky care.

Those are the only negatives I can think of.  I, personally, had an amazing experience, recovery, never had gas pain 1, or any pain (except the big incision stitch pulling/burning when it was healing, but was told about that).

Anyway, hit me up and I will share anything I have to share.  I am a full disclosure kind of gal. :}

I'll be four years out in August with Dr. Alvarez, and I have not had the first problem!  Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with either of the Dr. As.  They have been doing sleeves longer than most, and it is very rare to hear anything but rave remarks about either of them.  I would not change one thing about my experience, and I highly recommend Dr. Alvarez!  Best wishes :-)

Wow, you sound so much like me.....I wanted to know the good, bad and the ugly about all the surgery options and all the Dr.s. After two years of research, I decided to go to Dr. Aceves. My "medical tourism" experience was extraordinary and I would highly recommend him. I had the VSG 3 1/2 years ago and have never regretted it---no complications, exceptional care when I was there, and got to my goal weight in six months (still maintaining!). Since my surgery, three of my friends over the past three years have gone to Mexicali to have the VSG with Dr. Aceves as well and have had success and no regrets. Feel free to msg me if you want and I'd be happy to talk to you on the phone. I don't think you could go wrong with either Dr. A. One of the reasons I chose Dr. Aceves is that I am in Southern California and it was just a 2 hr. drive from me to San Diego and then just several blocks over the CA state line. Take good care--you are doing your due diligence by asking lots of questions! I'm sure you will be very successful on your journey.
