Beans - Anybody eat 'em?
I usually cook a pot of beans (lentils or limas) every weekend and have them in my fridge. I use them with dense protein like a "lube" to make it easier to digest. I also need them for the potassium. I was sleeved on 1/23 and have lost 48 lbs. so I don't think it has done me any harm and I don't crave carbs.
I am not an expert on beans or anything else for that matter but they do have carbs yes BUT they are masters at keeping one's glycemic index/blood sugar/insulin levels stable because they have protein, fiber and complex carbs. Pair some beans with a little dense protein like chicken, or shrimp or even lean ham and wow what a fabulous way to pack in protein and fiber with just a few complex carbs. These carbs are not the enemy, JMHO. Also it's not like I am eating huge amounts of beans or anything these days.
I eat them more than a few times a week. I made homemade chicken and white bean soup that I bring for lunch to work.
White beans, white kidney beans, red kidney beans, chicken broth, rotisserie chicken, and tomato's. Season it up and your good.
Excellent source of protien and fiber. I'm 9 weeks out, lost 50 so far, and don't worry about the carbs!

My friend had sleeve surgery 10/24/11 and he has lost 100 +/- pounds since his surgery and he eats baked beans every day. I don't think they are necessarily bad for you.
