Surgery tomorrow
VSG on 04/19/12
My surgery is tomorrow, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. I am not nervous, just think it's weird that someone will be playing around with my insides, lol. I have made it thru my five day pre-op diet without any major problems. I survived on water, tea, some Gatorade, sugar free jello and the delicious home made chicken broth. I also did protein "shots" several times a day, I mixed unflavored protein powder with some water (about half a cup or less) or Gatorade and bottoms up. The unflavored Syntrax Nectar protein powder dissolves very well.
I do have a question though, the hospital did call me yesterday gave me some info about the hospital stay but my question is can I have nail polish on my toes? I know its not allowed on my hands, does this go the same for toes?

I had surgery Monday and had some polish on my toes but they didnt say anything. Good luck on surgery! Everything will be fine. Gas is the worst pain but as soon as they let you get up and walk! You probably wont want to but it will make the pain in your back and chest go away so much faster! Welcome to the losers bench!

Good luck! I didn't have gas pain after my surgery. Either that or the pain meds were so good I didn't notice. lol

I've had a few abdominal surgeries and they've never said anything to me about polish on my toes. The fingernails they want unpolished because of the O2 monitor--that little clip thing they put on your fingertip. It can't "see" through darker nail polish colors (or possibly any colors except maybe clear or the really light French manicure stuff...best to be safe though and let your fingers go nekkid, lol).
Wishing you and everyone getting sleeved tomorrow much luck and an easy recovery!
