Crystal Lite - Aspartame - Headaches????

I absolutely love Crystal Lite in it's many flavors and varieties. Recently a coworker told me that the aspartame sweetener they use is bad for you and can cause headaches among other things. Have any of you found Crystal Lite or the Aspartame to be problematic? I tend to alternate between plain water and Crystal Lite all day so am drinking sometimes 4 of them in a day and do not want to be creating an issue down the line. Thanks for any input!

It has never given me any problems but after a while, I got tired of it and switched to the Mio water enhancers. I like them better because since they are already a liquid, they don't leave that nasty powder residue around the lid or in the water! Give them a try, they are awesome! Walmart also makes their own brand that are about 1.00 cheaper!

Thanks to you gurl, I tried the MIO water enhancers and I love them!  I just wish they had more flavors.  I do love the new Crystal Light "Mojito" flavor though and the new "Margarita" flavor makes me feel like I am being a little bad because it does taste like a lime margarita.  I miss my Cadillac Margs but I have been good post-op!!

I had to give it up completely. The crystal light made my reflux go crazy and my sleeve and back of my throat felt raw. I suspect it was the citirc acid or the aspartame in it that was causing the problem.

I drank several Diet Cokes a day for years and thought they didn't bother me, but when I finally stopped them, I actually had flu-like symptoms, achey and nauseated and headachey-for a couple of days. I've gone off caffeine before and this was different.

Since then, any time I drank or used aspartame it has given me the same feeling. Yuck. I can't tolerate any artificial sweeteners any more. I just use real sugar/real Coke or stick to iced tea (unsweetened) or water.

Awww - that sucks! I've heard others say they experience this as well. So glad to not be bothered this way. Thanks for sharing - I appreciate it.

I don't mind. I've made a shift to "real" food and nothing artificial.  It's one of the things I've been doing long enough that iced tea really is delicious to me, especially with a sprig of mint, and anything artificial tastes disgusting!
