question...
when adding a quest bar to my numbers, do i count the full amout of carbs or the net carbs (less fiber)?   in myfitnesspal it is listed both ways and you can choose whichever you wish.

Depends on who you ask.

My answer has always been, carbs are carbs are carbs. Meaning, I count total carbs instead of net.

I count the full amount of carbs.  Every carb is 4 calories regardless of fiber or not.

Total Carbs.  A Carb is a Carb.  IMO the other is just accounting for an excuse to eat more carbs and I dont need em.

Dittoing the above. I never bothered with net anything, so Quest bars were out in my losing stage.. I'd have 1/4 of a bar as a "treat" once in a while.

Well, I'm going to be the one to say different than the others. I have always counted carbs as carbs-fiber= what I count for my daily count. Everyone is different, I guess just follow what your doctor has told you. This is what mine said to do, hasn't affected me as I'm sure the others it has not affected them. To each his own! My only concern is watch out for the protein bars so early on in your journey, they can be hell on your weight loss, lol!

yeah, I used to eat them almost every day until I got serious about carbs...now, not so much. I'd rather have something like cheese, nuts, some deli meat for less carbs and = protein.

I count total carbs. I am 2 months out and can only eat a half bar at a time so its not too bad. It fills me up and is half the carb count ... Normally do it right before I hit the gym. Seems to work for me. I will not however eat one just to eat one. I have to be going straight out to work out :)
