Does your sleeve react to nerves, anger, sadness, etc.?

When I had my LapBand in, my restriction got very tight if I was upset, angry, or nervous.  I am curious, if any of you feel the same sensation with your sleeve?

Emotions do not really effect my sleeve, but hormones seem to.  I can eat more right before my TOM and sometimes in the evening.  I wake up to a tighter sleeve in the morning.

Very interesting, my band experience was like that.  Only once my period arrived my restriction was brutal.  Good to know!

I 100% agree with Elina. My sleeve is the exact same way...

My stomach was sensitive when I was stressed, upset before the band was ever placed. I never turned to food when I was stressed out or emotionally tapped, it was not a good combination for me physically. With my band, it was never right so I'm not entirely sure if my band acted crazy when stressed. I was always upset with my band it seems like so there's no definitive answer there. With my sleeve, I get the same issues that I had pre-op, when I'm stressed/overly emotional, there's no way I'm eating normally. I'll just be sick and uncomfortable. I did not have the inconsistent restriction related to hormones until pregnancy hit. I do experience the "tight" sleeve in the morning as well. I am awake no later than 5am, and I usually do not eat until after 9am. If I eat early, it's super light like a yogurt or applesauce. Nothing solid goes in my body before 9am.

Being tight in the morning, is the reason that I kept my morning protein shake a routine throughout my 4 years with the band.  It sounds like, I might need to continue that.  I guess my cells just expand while I am sleeping....I know I retain water VERY easily.

I have always stuffed my face with food when stressed, etc., but the band kept me from doing that.  At times when my restriction was already tight, that meant even sliders weren't going to go down.  I tried to keep my "normal" restriction a bit loose most of the time, so when I did get upset about something, sliders would still go down, but that was it.  Cheetos and M&M's there to soothe and comfort.

So, I am hoping that with my sleeve, I won't experience the extra tightness.....I know myself, and I do not want ANY excuses to turn to junk to get me through.

I'm not sure if you or many other bandsters experienced this, but did your "pouch" fill up with sinus issues and have difficulty eating/drinking because sinus drainage???

If so, just a heads up that your sleeve might react the same way. I have horrible allergies/sinus issues. It rarely gets to sinus infection level, but I get the nasal drip thing going. I can say without a doubt that it's difficult for me to eat due to sinus drainage. Warm fluids and Mucinex D and/or Sudafed are the only solutions I have ever found to work.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for ya in case you've got allergy/sinus issues.

I take an Allegra every single day, but when I had my cold several weeks ago, I noticed the drainage was really effecting my band.  Oye, was hoping the sleeve would react differently, but hey, it's all worth it!

For me yes it does make a difference.  When I'm sick or upset I'm more restricted than usual.  And I lose my appetite very easily.  I often wonder what would happen to me if I got really sick like cancer, God forbid, but you know what I mean.  I've had 2 surgeries since my sleeve and both times dropped too much weight and have had a devil of a time putting it back on and still haven't.  I guess you gotta take the good with the bad, lol.  But everyone is different so it may be totally different for you.  You just never know.
