HW 302 lbs. SW 279.8 lbs. CW 193.8 lbs MFP Jarabacoagirl Preop diets 22.2 lbs, 1st month 21.2 lbs, 2nd month 14.6 lbs, 3rd month 11.2 lbs, 4th month 7 lbs, 5th month 7 lbs, 6th month 6.8 lbs, 7th month 5.2 lbs, 8th month 4.4 lbs 9 and 10th months slowed down didn't record exactly

108.2 lbs lost from highest weight!

(86.2 lbs of that was lost since surgery date)

I am researching Dr. Alvarez, as well. I have a lap band and have been trying to get insurance to pay for revision but they are not going for it. I have had my band for almost 10 years and have been having alot of heart burn issues not being able to have any fluid in my band thus resulting in weight gain!
I have been watching alot of utube videos from people going to Mexico and Dr. Alvarez. My husband wants me to find people that have gone there and their experiences. He is afraid with the continued violence in Mexico we woud be taken across the border and never heard from again.
I have emailed Susan his patient cordinator who assures me everyting is safe but my husband wants to hear it from patients not someone who stands to gain from us going.

What are your thoughts?

i am going to have my surgery done w dr alvares, i live in san antonio but i am from eagle pass, i have surgery on the 15th so if u want to get back w me after the 18th ill let u know how it went with out the bs lol

I had surgery with Dr. Alvarez and he was great.

I've had multiple surgeries in my lifetime (all here in the states) and my VSG with Dr. Alvarez was the FIRST surgery I ever had that I didn't end up with a wound infection or other significant complication.

His staff is great too. Going to Mexico is a different experience but if I had a loved one that was going to have surgery, I'd take them to him.

Hi, Iam going to see Dr.Alvarez May 4th. And I looked all over for a surgeon. Look at the top of this page where it says "Find a Surgeon" you can look up the surgeons you want to know more about and prices. You can also goto Endobariatric.com and read testimonials . I contacted Susan Dr. A's coordinator and she gave me names of people to contact too. I know you will make the right decision you. =)

dr. alvarez has some really good videos on youtube if you want to see him personally. i was stuck between alvarez and aceves but i haven't been to california so i chose acevez (i'm from canada and you fly to texas for Alvarez and san diego for aceves).

Hi -I had vsg with dr. Joya October 2011. Overall fantastic experience. Even ended up having hitial hernia repair too. Didn't even know I needed that. Please message me your phone number if you want more info. I am in Canada by the way. British columbia

I know you said you were only interested in Alvarez and Joya, but I too am an Aceves patient, and I had an amazing experience... Barbara and I were actually sleeved by him on the same day and I'm going back to work tomorrow!
