Having trouble choicing a surgeon and location
I am not sure if I'll be having my surgery in the U.S. or in Mexico. I am self pay. Anyone have any surgeons that they recommend either in Mexico or in Pennsylvania somewhere in or around Philadelphia?
HW 302 lbs. SW 279.8 lbs. CW 193.8 lbs MFP Jarabacoagirl Preop diets 22.2 lbs, 1st month 21.2 lbs, 2nd month 14.6 lbs, 3rd month 11.2 lbs, 4th month 7 lbs, 5th month 7 lbs, 6th month 6.8 lbs, 7th month 5.2 lbs, 8th month 4.4 lbs 9 and 10th months slowed down didn't record exactly
108.2 lbs lost from highest weight!
(86.2 lbs of that was lost since surgery date)
I am a week out from going to Dr. Aceves in Mexico. Best decision I ever made! Dr. Kelly, Alvarez, and Aceves all have great reputations around here. There are probably others, but those are the main ones that come to my mind.

Ditto Aceves, medical care was second to none. If you do go to Mexico, research what each doctors' post op care is. Some are in the hospital, some are in a recovery house or hotel. I have heard great things about dr. Kelly, and his patient successes speak for themselves. However, I think he also had a patient loss due to PE last summer. That could happen anywhere, with any surgeon. Just do your research. These boards are a great resource.

Alvarez, Aceves and Ungson are the tops in MX. There are several that are big no's, and a few that are unproven so far.. I couldn't have asked for a better experience w/ Aceves, and am very very happy with the way he makes his sleeves (great technique which gives very good restriction.)
Find and read up on patients that are 2+ years out and see what they think, what their restriction is and how they are doing.. Not are are equal. Yes, it's what you put in your mouth, but the restriction is a huge helping hand that should be there for life, and since that is what you are paying for.. make sure you get the best.
