Food in throat feeling
I was cleared today for pureed!!! Yea! I have to go grocery shopping now & am very excited! I grabbed a couple of recipes from egg face & want to thank all of you that have referenced her website....awesome.
So, I have some albacore tuna, cheddar cheese & a wee bit of skim milk mixed & heated. It's all I had here & was not eating/ drinking any more liquids if i didn't have to...lol! Well, I ate about 1.5 to 2oz. it felt like it was kinda in my throat for like 45 min. following. Like I had to burp but if I kinda tried it would be food coming up, not air.
Is this normal for the first food you eat with substance? Did I eat too much? My NUT out of office so no reply from her prob till 2m. I have had such wonderful support & suggestions from here that I know I'll probably get better answer anyway..lol!

If you were just cleared for pureed then try stuff like pureed soups and softer items. I found proteins like tuna & meat pretty hard on the tummy right at first, had to ease into it. I pureed some lentil soup and beef stew and they were great. My first soft food was scrambled eggs & cheese and Wendy's chili. Sometimes I still get food stuck and it feels like if I burp it will come back up, probably trying to eat too fast. You'll figure it out and it gets easier every day.
That's normal. I feel that feeling in my throat you describe just about every time I eat anything. That's how I know I'm full. Same feeling too like i have to burp but its not air. There is food sitting there when I try to burp. Pretty uncomfortable feeling but one i guess we need to get used to :(
Someone on here told me to get Papaya Enzyme and chew those after eating. It's a digestive enzyme. I guess it helps. I hear its used as a meat tenderizer.

It depends what I eat, but yes, I too have had that feeling.
I would think that what you are eating is too much for you at this stage. When I get that in the throat feeling, I think it is because I am just not ready for the food yet. I don't always have the full feeling in my tummy when I had the food in the throat feeling.

Tuna was one thing I could not eat and still can't 3 months out. I tried it during mushie stage and had my first episode of "foamies." Also, 2 oz of anything besides yogurt or soup is way too much on your little tummy! Be careful not to hurt your healing tool. This journey we're on is always an adventure and everyday is different... but the rewards are great.
Thank you all so much for your feedback. My Nutrtionist said to limit intake to 2oz but yes it feasibly is that I may only be able to do less. I have had cottage cheese & refried beans since this post & have had same feeling with both. I had 1.5 oz or less so I also wonder if it is just the way I will feel following eating as 1 member said he does. Maybe she cleared me too soon also cause Thurs. would be my 2 weeks & she cleared me Monday via email. IDK!! It's not painful so it bearable. Just one of those things I will get through.
