Hello all! Thank you to all of you who prayed for me!  My experience hasn't been one of positives too much. I got stuck 6 times for IV's, am still struggling with pain as me & narcotics don't get along. I was dry heaving every 20- 30 minutes entire first day & a half. They have me on Ultram but only 25mg every 8 hours because it can be so hard on your kidneys. I have an ice pack constantly on the right side where the drain was & the deep stitch is. I'm struugling to get in fluids & am just worn out. If anyone out there has suggestions, I will gladly take them!!!

Just want to say I'm happy to hear from you. I don't have any suggestions as I am struggling with fluids as well.

Time and rest - that's my advice.  It got better for me every day that passed.  I had to focus on the little tiny things that were FANTASTIC about each day post op.  The first day was being able to use that spongy thing in my mouth when it was soooooo ridiculously dry.  The second day it was getting that darned catheter out - whew! The third day it was being able to lay in MY OWN bed with no nurses coming in and out all day and night (just my sisters LOL).  And so on and so on.  I know it sounds stupid when you're in the midst of pain and just feeling generally crappy but honestly - finding things to be grateful for will take your mind off some of the suckiness.  And you know that many have been through it before and all say "it gets better trust me" - it really does.

Hang in there.

I am glad you are home....so sorry to hear about your pain. I haven't had my WLS surgery yet...did have gallbladder out and the recovery pain, I hear is rather similiar. Just make sure to get up and walk some every so often and then rest. Most importantly.....please, please push those liquids in as much as possible and then more...dehydration will make you feel soooo much worse.

wishing you well my friend

Glad to hear that you are home, yet sorry that you aren't feeling so hot! Just like the others have said, hang in there...each day does get better! I am 6 days post-op, and I am finally feeling back to my old self.
Keep us posted!

I felt a lot better once I was home.  You will feel better each day but it will take time.  Rest! Don't worry about how much you drink or eat because the first week you wont be able to do much of that anyway.

I was sleeved a day ahead of you. Gas x strips help with the pain. I'm up walking alot and able to do a 16 oz high protein shake, half a s/f popsicle, and a coffee cup of bulloin in a day.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Just keep trying and do the best you can with the fluids. It will get easier as you get further out.
