14 months out... Trying to get back on track

Hi All, I'm currently trying to get back on track to get down to my goal of 175lbs. I had my VSG 14 months ago and gave birth to twins just 6 weeks ago. I was 260lbs the day they were born and am currently 212. Not bad at all, but I've been stuck at 212 for the last few weeks. I'm struggling with sugar and carbs right now. My protein has been high, but my water hasn't been where it needs to be either. Also, I think I'm consuming too much red meat. It's much higher in fat and calories (even the lean meat) than fish or poultry. I feel like I know what I need to do, but I can't get back on the bandwagon and do it. At 14 months out what should my caloric goals be? I feel that 600-800 is too low, but may not since I still have weight to lose. Also, what should my carb goals be? I've really been trying to keep to 50g or less. I shoot for 30, but usually end up somewhere between 30 and 50. I've also been increasing my work outs. Since I am 6 weeks out from my c-section I haven't officially been cleared to exercise, but feel good enough to move. I'm not nursing if that affects your imput! What amount of food should I aim for? I feel like I can eat way more than I should be able to. Eating 4 ounces of dense protein is pretty easy most days and there is usually room for veggies. Carbs (especially sweets) tend to be sliders for me so I can eat them whether there is room or not (trouble!).

Congrats on the twins!! And the great WL after.

Personally for me, I'll never be a 6-700 cal/day person, I'm just not willing to do that, and I'd rather lose a little slower and eat closer to 900-1000 and exercise a little. But, if you really want to drop the weight quickly, 600-800 is a good range to follow. You can try and experiment and if you can live on that (and have energy for the babies!!), go with it.

Only you can come up with the fight to get to your goal - you may need to detox from the carbs/sugars for a bit before really getting into your groove of things, but start out slow if you have to and cut out the junk and then focus on finding lower fat/carb options for your meals and snacks.

Sounds lke you probably do it but track, track, track :)

Congratulations on the twins!!!! Six weeks is a VERY short time!! If I were you, I would consult a dietician. You need a strategic plan to let your body heal and get back on track. Are you nursing? That is supposed to be a great way to lose post partum!! 600-800 is not enough nourishment, especially since your world must be very chaotic right now!! Good luck!! You did it before and I am sure you can do it again!!

I've read that your protein is HIGH but what is high?
I've read that you feel 600-800 is TO low, but you haven't said WHAT you are eating?

So with that said besides carbs being less then 50 do you know your other numbers?  If you are eating 4oz of protein with room for veggies and your carbs are 50g or less are you losing?  Now does this mean MOST days your sweets/carbs are under 50g but those other days when you are in trouble they aren't?

Are you tracking etc?

I've really been tracking closely this week and my protein has been over 100 (120 today) and my calories have been over 1,000, somedays as high as 1,300 which I feel is too high. I've been focusing on trying to eat just protein at most meals, but a lot of times my protein choices are red meats. I think that is a problem too. Harder to digest, higher in fat and calories. So I'm going to try and focus more on poultry. I think I'm overthinking things though, which has always been my problem. Need to get back to basics... work the tool I have. Ms. Shell, as far out as I am do you think 3oz of protein would be a better amount? I know I need to eat slower too, that's just hard to do when I'm trying to keep two newborns happy and chase a 2 year old.

Poultry is a great option for low cal protein rich foods...  I'm trying to keep my calories lower this week, and have started having Boca/Morningstar Farms products twice a day.  Many of their products are low in calories and high in protein.  I am especially happy with their various burgers- the ones I eat range from 70-120 in calories, and seem to have at least 11 grams of protein.  I like to put a slice of fat free cheese on my burger (30 calories, 5 grams protein, I think).  I eat my burger without a bun, and with no condments.

I eat 2-3 ounces of protein at a meal...  I have a hard time eating slowly.  However, I have found that if I eat slow (or, take a couple of bites, do something else for 10 minutes, then continue on with my meal), I get a "satisfied" feeling from less food :)
