Something to think about

Hi Everyone,

If you do not have your head in the right place then weight loss surgery is going to be a battle or struggle for you.

I have a saying.  "To have a good and healthy body you MUST have your brain in the right place"

It is hard to become successful at weight loss unless you really are ready to have this surgery and follow the directions that your doctor gives you. This is a lifestyle change!

You have to take back the control over food and NO longer let food control your every thought. This is NOT your miracle cure, you have to put effort and work into becoming success.  I wish you great success.  I am always here if you have a bad day or just need to talk about anything.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Hi,

Thanks so much.  I think so many of us are looking at the weight loss.  And the biggest challenge really is dealing with our brain.  It has had it's way with us for so many years.  Now we NEED to take back the control and train ourselves to eat small amounts of food and not graze all day.

Staying busy is what works best for me.

Hugs,
Suzanne

But realistically, no matter how much control you think you  have or how much you think your brain is in the right place, once you have the surgery you're going to go on an emotional rollercoaster! I thought my mind was right and for the first 2 months after surgery I didn't battle with food at all and technically I still don't "want" to eat or have head hunger or cry over eating BUT I never realized exactly to what extent I depended on the food to deal with my emotions. It could be the stress from work or the break up of my 4 year relationships but I'm a walking disaster and even though I know I'd usually run to a burrito, I know that a 2 oz burrito wouldn't do anything for me since I was a volume eater. I'll also say that I don't do the over eating thing now and I actually don't eat often enough which is probably why I don't lose weight like I should, however I do know that my depression and emotions are so much stronger because I don't have anything to mask it with.

Like I said, I thought I was good for the first 2 months but then it hit me. Also, I took a year of classes to deal with emotional eating. I'm not sure what I could have done differently. I would have had to go through this process eventually.

Hi,

Wow, I hear what you are saying and I am so sorry that all these things have been coming down around you.  It truly has to be a very difficult time.  Please remember this is all abut you and in the end you are going to be the winner.  This is a period of relearning right now, and you do not need all these other things going on in your life.  I know what you are saying about food.  It was a way to self medicate by using food when you were faced with a lot of stress.

I know you are in a lot of emotional pain right now.  I truly believe everything happens for a reason and right now you can not see it because all you feel is pain.  One day you will honestly look back and know why it happened.  There will be a wonderful man he loves you for who you are.

In the mean time, I am here if you need to talk about anything.  I wish you less stress and great success in the next few months.

Hugs,
Suzanne
