Where's my "fire?"

I have a friend on FB who has the Sleeve and he's lost 250lbs.  He's working on his last 50 to get to a goal of around 230ish.

He's got EVERYTHING I had when I was 345lbs.
He's got EVERYTHING I had when I first had WLS at 302.8lbs.
He's got EVERYTHING I had when I reached my goal of 195lbs.

He's got that FIRE that determination that can do attitude.  Where the **** did my FIRE go.  I feel like the nomads who first discovered fire and then it went out and they were first trying to REKINDLE that fire.  That determination to get to goal NO matter the cost.  Yeah we "give" up certain things but not for LIFE, just till goal.  And well maybe SOME things for life, but it's such a BETTER life without those things anyway.

I've been TRYING to rekindle my fire since I went from 192 to 216 back at the end of 2010.  I LOOKED for that fire in 2011 to no avail.  In fact I bounced between my rebound of 216 and 221.  Back and forth, up and down, it was ping pong for Christ's sake.

I'm still here and fighting.  I'm looking for my FIRE...have you seen it?

I will admit thanks to him I've got a slow burn going on.  Thanks to my exercise friend I have a 10K that I'm doing on April 7th and every other day I'm walking on the treadmill at least 60 minutes.

I'm TRYING to rekindle that FIRE!!!  Rant over...

When I lose passion for something, I have to discover something new to get it back.  That's hard for weight loss once you've worked through all the diets like I did.  I'm only half laughing at that statement because it's true!  So I will have to find new stuff to keep me excited when I get one, two, three, etc years out.  Maybe it will be a new exercise or hobby.  Maybe it will be cooking (current obsession!) healthy and getting really experimental for VSG friendly stuff.  Who knows?

My therapist also suggested I write when I'm struggling.  Just sit down and write constantly for 20 minutes.  Even if I have nothing to say, just write ANYTHING.  After 20 minutes, my struggle may have passed or I might have gotten my mind off it.  Or (the scary part) over time my writing may reveal why I struggle.  I've only done it once and man, it was SO helpful.

I wish I had your answer.  Only you know.  But, you can DO IT!  We are here cheering you on!

Your post sounds like there's some fire to me. An effing bondfire.

Seriously, reread it.

Your fire was never lost. Maybe it just needs to be redirected to a healthy competition of some kind. You've got less to loss than your friend. Can you get to goal before him? Is there a REALLY nice REALLY expensive outfit you could put some money aside for if you make it to goal. Is there a vacation you can look forward to if you get to goal?

Maybe start with the 5-day pouch test to restart things and go from there.

The fire and passion to lose is still there hun. You just need to redirect it.

You got this.

I can hear your fire. You now just need to open your eyes a little wider so you can SEE it.  Just a little comment about those who "diet" stick strictly to their plan just till goal.  Not for me, this is a lifestyle change that begin when I got home from the hospital.  Not sure how maintenance is going to go because I'm certainly not at goal, but you see for me I want my body to adjust to my lifestyle now so I eat healthy most of the time but If I want a small piece of something not so healthy I have it.  That's probably why I'm a slow loser but I don't have a problem with that.  When I do get to goal, it will just be another day.

Thanks love...I didn't "diet" but at 3 years something happened...it started with a "small" piece of something and went down hill after almost a year of a "small" piece.  There are some things I'm learning that need to be in the NEVER again like any addict just a "little" of my addiction is not a good thing.

But I'm just 4 years out, I learn something new everyday.
