Are foamies a symptom of reflux?

Foamies seem to be when you eat too fast or over fill your sleeve.  Acid just comes up your throat and burns, from my experience.

I started with major acid and heartburn 2 weeks post op.  I bought over the counter Prilosec and it helped somewhat but not nearly fix the situation.  I suffered with it for another 2 weeks until my 4 week post op visit with the surgeon and he put me on Nexium.  Said its MUCH better then prilosec.  It sure has been!  Feeling a whole lot better with prescription Nexium.

An Rx would be even better....that way I can just pay the co-pay and save some money!!  I will be sure and ask my surgeon if he can write me a script, just in case!  You are doing awesome!  Thanks for the information!

Hey Sweets!

I've had absolutely no acid reflux NONE!  Your doc will (should)  give you a prescription and then you will only have to pay a co-pay with insurance otherwise it is pricey.  I used the PPI prescribed for 2 months and my doc said I could stop a couple of weeks before.  He wrote another prescription because I bugged him and it's been in my wallet since (if you don't have coverage I can fill & send to you - let me know . . .and let me know if you need anything!).  He said "you don't need it - you get that when you "overeat"!  Now I know that is not true for most people but for me, I was lucky.  I kinda (knock on wood) wish that my sleeved stomach would give an indication that it has been sleeved  because then I would lose weight .

Okay the script is not dated and it is for 30pills  30mg of Prevacid.

Don't forget SF jello & my favorite SF ice pops!

Best,
Leila

Thanks so much, Leila!!  You are the best!!  I am very glad that you don't have the reflux to deal with.  Looks like you are losing weight JUST FINE, if you ask me!!  Keep it up!!
I will definitely get some SF ice pops......so looking forward to this!

Most docs will put you on a scrip for the acid in the beggining, and SOME people can ween themselves off and be fine, some will always need a PPI (me being one of them, but it's a small sacrifice). HOWEVER, OTC stuff rarely works to control this kind of acid, so talk to your doc beforhand and see what he does before you buy it.

Good luck!

Great!  Thanks fot he advice.  I did end up buying some Prilosec at Costco....they have it on sale, but I can always use that in a pinch.  I will talk to my doc about it.  You are correct, it is worth the pain, if I am healthy in every other way!

As long as I take my pill every night before bed (I am on Nexium) I have no pain at all, if I go a few days without it though the acid is bad, but it is solved by simply taking a pill and by the next morning I am acid free again.  I can eat anything I want and no food gives me  heartburn, so that is kind of a positive as I LOVE my spicy food LOL
