Question about reflux and acid indigestion

Hi there!  I am trying to get ready for my surgery.  I am scheduled to get sleeved on the 3rd of April.  I am stocking up on some Isopure, Vitamin Waters, and am ordering some unjury chicken broth flavored protein powder.

Now, I am wondering if I am supposed to stock up on some Prilosec.  From what I am reading here it sounds like reflux might be an issue after being sleeved?  How prevalent is this?  If it happens to most of us, is it long lasting?  Or does it ease up after a few months?

Thanks for any help and insight you can provide.

I am being sleeved on Tuesday and my Dr. wrote out a script for Prevacid. He told me to take it everyday for 2 months!

Reflux is pretty common with the sleeve.  Not everyone experiences it, but many do.  Some people can back off the reflux meds over time and others can't.  I'm still on mine at 9 months out.

I am a almost two weeks out and have had no reflux. I wonder when it typically starts after surgery? Weeks, days?

I had reflux prior to surgery and It continued afterward. Every month I would check to see if it had subsided. It took about 6 months to go away completely. I no longer take anything for reflux.

Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones, and not suffer with it!

Never had probs with reflux except once as a side effect of a med so I know the signs and how it feels. My dr had me start taking them 10 days or a week before surgery and 2 months min after. The other day I didn't take my prilosec for 2 days and OMG... ******g evil. I'm kind of annoyed because I'm thinking this is going to be permanent BUT it's a small price to pay for losing almost 75 pounds so quickly. :)

I have to say, I threw up once and the whole thing was acid. I've never seen anything like it. The smell and taste as it came up almost knocked me backwards and I couldn't get the taste out of my throat or the smell out of my nose for hours and hours. That's the first time i realized that there was craziness going on down there!
