Hi everyone! ME AGAIN lol!! I am being sleeved this wednesday the 21st. I am having a size 40 bougie that will be oversewn. Will my weight loss be smaller than others? Just curious as to what bougie size was used on other VSG patients and how much they lost in comparisons to their bougie sizes.

One of the first things I moaned when wheeled back into the hospital room was "What size bougie did they use?"

The answer? 36 Fr.

36Fr oversewn.

There's probably a couple cc's difference between a 36 and a 40.  The length of your stomach (rather than the width) might make an ounce or so difference, eventually, when your sleeve is fully healed and the swelling has gone down all the way.   For example, I think tall men (or tall women for that matter) will have more capacity than a 4'9" person - and they need it!

Don't worry, you'll be just fine.  Good luck with your surgery!
