I have a big ol' stand unit- big enough to easily handle a double batch of cookies and bread dough.  Since the VSG it has been collecting some serious dust.  Time to move it out to the garage!

I have a professional with bowl lift (instead of tilt head) and uncoated beater/hook - don't know what current models are called

I love the bowl lift - once you get used to it, I find it easier to scrape bottom & sides than when the beaters are in the way. I prefer it for adding ingredients too.  Its quite easy to adjust for depth/clearance too.

whatever model you get, keep it handy on the counter - you'll find yourself using it ALL THE TIME.

I just have a hand mixer, but I have to say the KitchenAid is better than the old crappy one I used to have. I wish I had a stand mixer, that would be my vote if I could afford it.

I have a pink stand.  I got it 2 years ago for Christmas.  It does make so many things much easier, but honestly it's huge and heavy.  Not to mention I haven't used it in probably a good 6 months.  But, being only 6 weeks out we aren't doing a whole lot of cooking.  :)

I have a stand with the lift instead of the tilt head.  LOVE it!!!  Just don't use it as much as I used to, or as much as I do around the holidays!!
