Stay in touch with your doc.  A little nausea is normal, but excessive nausea is not.  You need to get it under control so you don't do damage to your new insides!  Call your doc!

Keep us posted....it should also get better in a day or two.  Good luck!

Are you still in the hospital? I also suffered from a lot of nausea after surgery (the whole day of surgery and half of the next day)-my surgeon visited me in the hospital several times and assured me that it was caused by the anesthesia and that once it was out of my system I would feel better. My surgical nurse also told me that it was important to keep taking deep breaths because that helps remove the anesthesia from your system and helps get your organs working propertly again. There are also medicines that can be put in your IV and given once you get home, please check with your doctor and I hope this helps and that you feel better soon.

I had it bad when I came home from the hospital for 1.5 days...yes it woke me up in the night with the run to the toilet... I never threw up just dry heaves.... but bad...I had ice chips and also a very cold cloth in the bathroom with me that I put on my forehead and back of my neck..I also had alcohol swabs there so when I was feeling ill at the toilet..I would sniff these and it helped a lot... It does get better... HANG IN THERE and keep sipping

Hi,  Sorry you're having a difficult time!  The first few days I had a lot of nausea also, but didn't have any vomiting.  If your nausea is that bad, please contact your doctor.  Thinks do get better after a few days, so hang in there!  I was given zofran for nausea, and it helped some of the time.  Good luck.  Sharon

I had nausea for the first few days even with the medications.  But it cleared up by the third day. You should let your doctor know how often you are getting sick.

Zofran. or something stronger. Call your surgeon and insist on getting something. YOU HAVE to be able to sip, and if you are not getting in or keeping in liquid, you need to be back in the hospital on an IV !!

Please be proactive and make sure that you don't dehydrate.

for me the nausea was from what hey gave me for pain and if I remember something else they gave me in I.v. all I could say was please help me to the nurses.

Finally changed me to Demerol and took me off the other thing and was all better.

Ask your Dr to change pain Med or try it. No nausea Med helped me until they got meds changed around.

Best of luck. I know it doesn't mean much now but at worst another day or 2 and you will be off that stuff altogether.

I  had  the  same issue,  and  I even  threw up  blood clots  for  2  days  over  and  over.  It  does  get  better,  my  doctor  finally  gave me a patch behind my  ear  and  theat  finally help out of  all meds  they  gave me  and  believe  me  when  they  saw blood  they  gave  me  many.   After  that  I  turned  the  corner  and  it  all  got  better.   For  me  I don't  do  well with drugs and think all the  drugs  they  give up  to sleep  made most of  it.  The  blood  for me  was the  blood  thinner,  it  made my blood to  think.  Hope you  feel  better soon.
