Hi! I remember you from the lapband board as well. Congrats on getting your approval!
I was banded in 07. It was great for the first 9 months, then it's been downhill ever since. The process to get mine out it ten times harder than it was to get it in. My insurance added about 10 new stipulations to get around. I will complete the last of my supervised diet in two weeks, then they will submit. Fingers crossed!
I only hope that one day they stop doing lapbands. I try to warn people that I see considering it, but I doubt it does any good. And truth be told, I probably wouldn't have wanted to believe it either when I was in their shoes.

Revised from band to sleeve on June 6th, 2012. Lost 48 pounds on my own in the 4 months prior to revision. 
I completely understand!! I never recommend the band to others. I tell them that I know some people that have had success with it, but it's too unpredictable, very hard to maintain. I have no doubts that lapbands will be history one day.
