An introduction from a soon-to-be former Bandster

Hi Melly, not sure if you remember me, but I was a bandster for a long time (2 years) and suffered a slip late last year. I made the decision not to fool with the band and revise to a sleeve right when I was diagnosed. I've been sleeved for four weeks today and am very happy with my decision to revise.
My biggest piece of advise so far for a revision patient is that NOTHING is the same. Go into the prep, surgery and recovery with an open mind and try not to compare it to the experiences you've had with the band. I have found that they are more different than they are the same.
That being said, I've lost 16 lbs in 5 weeks (one week of liquid diet before the surgery) and couldn't be happier with my results this far.
I'm happy to answer any questions that you have about the surgery and recovery... please let me know if I can help in any way.
Jules

Yes, they took the band out and did the sleeve in one surgery. It was pretty painful, and where the port was removed was also very painful...something I didn't really think about.
I was in the hospital overnight and was out about 10 days, working 2 half days before I went back for a full week.
Sugar, oh the sugar. I'm very sugar intolerant now :( Only bad/good thing I can think of off the top of my head.
Let me know if you have other questions.

HI!!! i was banded in 07 and im currently in the process of revising to a sleeve as well..my story is a little different, i lost about 45 lbs with the band, everything was going great then my hubby and i moved out of state about 10 months after i was banded...and when we moved, there were no surgeons in the area, and since i transferred jobs, i had new insurance, that did not cover any fills...yeah, no one at the company told me about that one. so i went a year and a half with no fills or checkups...by the time i got new insurance and a new surgeon to go see the fills did nothing but make me pb and slime...as soon as the food would "unstuck" i was starving again. sooooooo long story short, im here, back at my preband weight and going through the process of getting revised to a sleeve as well. Good luck to you, and hopefully we can keep in touch and be motivation for each other on this journey!!!
