If you could stick to a simple diet you wouldn't be on these boards.  Just do the best you can prior to surgery--it will be A LOT EASIER after surgery.  You will still need to watch the foods you eat, but you will feel full and satisfied.

I only lost 6 or 7 pounds in my six month supervised diet.  I tried, did what they said, but nothing budged.  Don't worry about this step too much.  Give it an honest try, but don't beat yourself up for being human!  Even after you get your sleeve, you can still eat the wrong things (true, not very MUCH of them, but still), and that is just human nature.  Hang in there!!  Be KIND to yourself in this journey and keep the end goal in sight.  It's not a straight line to that goal....there will be side trips and corrections made.  That's just the way it works!  Be proud of yourself for losing 10 pounds!  Go carry around a 10 pound bag of flour all day!  That's what you lost!!!  Stay positive!

I cheated on my pre-op diet twice and still lost weight. I felt like I had to because it was my last chance to eat something really bad for me that tasted really good.
