Hello

I had my VSG in 2006, and wanted to know if there is anyone on this board that is a long time sleever.  I am having problems keeping my weight down, not as easy as I thought it would be this far out.  I joined a weight loss group and it is more restrictive than anything I have been on, so therfore it is boring.  The way I was eating when I was losing was much more exciting with all the recipes.  Just wondering what you are doing or if you have ever gained then were able to lose.  Totally at my wits end with this & I don't blame anyone but myself!!!  Ant help would be appreciated.  Thanks Laura

I'm sorry you have strayed away from us.  You are partiularly important to this site, as I think you are one of the most senior of veterans.  I would love to hear your story and how the weight crept up.  We all worry about this and some stats [starting weight, 1 yr, 2 yr, 3 yr etc...would be helpful.  Give us some insight into how this happened.  You would be helping so many of us prevent what you are going through. Finally, you are NOT alone.  I will be praying that you are able to regain control over your eating.  You know what works.  I'd try to go back to square one.  Once you are away from the carbs, the cravings will subside, but that often takes a few weeks as you know.  Keep posting and let us know what we can all do to encourage you.  YOU GOT THIS.  YOU CAN DO THIS.  Re-awaken your tool and slide on back to the loosers bench.  I'm pullin for ya!

Hi Laura -- Good to see another old-timer here!  I too have put some weight back on and have had no luck getting it back off.   As you said, I have no one to blame but myself.  I started back into the junk carbs and sugar ... and, well, there you go!  Keep posting here, and let's see what folks say.  And come on over to the maintenance board, as well :-)

Hi I did go over to the maintenance board but did not see much in the way of trying to get the weight off after so many years.

Just some background: My highest weight was 260 and I actually lost around 110lbs, so I weighed about 150 - 155 at my lowest, but not my goal.  I did have things happen such as back surgery & a bad knee, but that was not the reason for the weight gain.  After so long, at least with me I was able to eat anything without it bothering me.  I was NEVER sick, which was good but bad. If I had gotten sick I would have stopped.  Just a little too much of trying this and that and I guess I totally lost control.  This "program" I am on is not my cup of tea at all, it is very expensive and I actually think the food is better eating the WLS way.  I think I need to get my mind back in the right way of thinking.  I have only lost 13lbs so far and they are not happy since I should have lost more. At least I lost.  So if you are just starting out keep that frame of mind going and you will succeed, I always said I would never be one of those people that gain my weight back, and I was good for 4yrs.  So never say never, its a toughtlong road, but I am sure many of you will suceed.  Good Luck!!!
