Every Sleeve is Different.. Yours?
Two years out, and as far as tolerance, nothing really changed post-sleeve, except that I no longer have to worry about certain things setting off my reflux, because that disappeared immediately after surgery. YAY!
When I eat right, the restriction's definitely there. Unfortunately, sliders and crap I can graze on all day...a horrible habit to let slip back in!
After a few days of liquids-only, my restriction is WAY there. Like, it allows me to eat half of what I did before doing a few days of liquids. I Master Cleansed for a few days last week, and after that, was full on half a cup of cottage cheese. FULL.
I never lost the taste for anything, except I drink my Crystal Lite at about half-strength...anything stronger is just way too sweet (unfortunately, this isn't the case for actual sweets!). There are things I now love though, that I didn't before! I cannot get enough bleu cheese, I'm starting to experiment and like red wines (although they still have to be on the sweet side), I like spicier foods now things like that.
I WISH I couldn't tolerate sweets and junk, but that's just something I'm going to have to deal with and fight for the rest of my life.

I have a teeny-tiny sleeve of steel.
- I was on a PPI the first 2 months, haven't been on one since and have not had a lick of heartburn. I do sometimes get gas, which unfortunately seems to go down, not up.
- I can eat absolutely anything. Have yet to find a single thing that disagrees with my sleeve. Don't eat a lot of greasy food but have had a couple of occasions to and no problem. Same with tastes of sweets, which is all I've had. Spicy I do all the time.
- Any solid meat fills me up in 2 ounces (sometimes still less). I just got to that in the last 2 months, before it was 1.5 oz.
- I have yet to find a solid food slider. Even a protein shake made with 8 oz milk is thick enough that it takes me 30 minutes to drink it.
- Early on I couldn't drin**** cold drinks. I can now, but can't drink anything very fast - maybe 8 oz every 15 minutes for a clear liquid if I'm pushing it.
- I found low carbing very easy (except for the - TMI alert - constipation). I still avoid simple carbs almost completely (which may be why I haven't found any sliders) as I don't like how the blood sugar roller-coaster feels. I do eat complex carbs - had steel cut oats for breakfast this morning. Didn't do that while still trying to lose.
- Rumbly (my sleeve) is still very vocal at 10 months . Occasionally I have to remind my tummy to "use your indoor voice" because it can be heard across the room. Thankfully has yet to do it in a work meeting, my one sleeve-related dread.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22
175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
Great topic.
Early on I seemed to have super sensitive taste and couldn't tolerate spices and even much black pepper. this was not my tummy. it was taste. Better now but I sill think my sense of taste is heightened.
I used ppi's before wls and after but thanks to hiatal hernia repair i no longer need them.
There are some foods I hated before surgery that I like now; oatmeal and jerky (not together!)
My restriction was heavy duty until about two years and then seems to have relaxed a little though still asserts itself; sometimes to a surprising degree. I try to use the increased capacity for veggies since I felt i didn't eat enough.
the only thing that makes me quesy is sugar free chocolate. No clue why.
A glass of red wine really kills my hunger. REally stops any before dinner snacking.
Don't like to eat lettuce. I associate it with pre wls days of failed dieting.
I didn't get hungry for months after surgery. I do now but its not a monster. But I do get hungry more often but have an array of appropriate items to deal with it.
Knock on wood but it seems my sleeve plus doctor's program has really helped me change my eating habits.
Overall I feel I've been lucky to have the best possible sleeve and weight loss experience possible even though i was a slow loser. maintenance is one day at a time but I feel like I can do this. Sleeve does work on your brain.

A little over 3 years out and I can tolerate most things very well. This has come with time.
I still need a PPI daily or suffer with nasty reflux.
My restriction is still very good...Almost 1/2 a sandwich, 1/2 cup greek yogurt fills me to the brim, 3oz of any dense meat and a couple bites of veggies.
I cannot eat things that are too spicy or I want to immediately hurl. It ****** me off because I used to be able to eat habanero peppers with no issue..not so anymore.

This is a great topic.
At 2.5 years out, I can eat anything without any consequences. In the beginning my hunger went away completely and I never had any cravings. I found that around one year or so the hunger came back but it is much quieter than before surgery. I now get some cravings but they are less intense than before.
I can eat quite a bit more now than I could at three months or even at six months out. I can eat 5 ounces of protein if I chose to at one sitting. I don't normally choose to do this. I stick with 3-4 ounces of protein and some veggies for most meals. My meals look very normal now, if someone would pay attention to my meal at a restaurant, they would think I eat like a normal skinny person.
I have almost no restriction for many slider foods, bread, pasta, corn products would slide right through me, so I have to eliminate them for the most part from my diet. I can eat about about a cup and a half of chili or soup so I have to make sure that my food is lean and healthy or else I am sure that I would gain the weight back.
I can drink anything I want in any quantity, I never get full drinking. I prefer warmer liquids but I have always preferred that.

I liked reading everyone's replies.
During the first six months I couldn't tolerate chicken or eggs. I lived on shrimp a lot.
At two years I can eat 4 oz chicken, pork or beef, 6 oz white fish or salmon.
Sliders go down way too easy so it's a constant reminder that low carb works best. I have to measure everything because I think that a bag is one serving and once I put my hand in the bag I'm screwed.
Things like Crystal Light are way too sweet but I'm not crazy for plain water so I drink a lot of herbal or black decaf tea. The fruit flavored teas that I lived on pre-op still gag me at 2 years out.
Last month I stopped taking my PPI but I'm considering going back on it. My hunger came back very soon post-op and I wonder how much the PPI helps combat that. I have a 40f that wasn't oversewn.
At this stage it's about planning and making the most of the calories that I can eat daily to maintain because my Sleeve likes most everything except being too full!
