2 YEAR UPDATE (LATE,LONG W/PICTS)
I know, I'm late but I really wanted a new pict to post.
I was sleeved on 2/08/10. Prior to the pre-op diet my high weigh was 228. I lost 98 lbs so my lowest weight was 130.4 (darn those last 2 lbs). I'm now maintaining between 134-139. **Disclaimer-I intentionally gained 5 lbs because I didnt like the way I looked. This was against vets advice. I DO NOT regret doing this. I still look/feel bony but am comfortable maintaining at this weigh.
I am not the normal sleever. I still drink 2 protein shakes a day (because I like them!) and I am not super strict on my carbs. I usually eat between 1200-1600 calories a day and I'm not doing much right now for exercise due to cold/wet weather (and I'm lazy).
I had diabetes, sleep apnea, and was borderline high blood pressure (doc was wanting me on meds but I begged him to wait until after surgery to see what happened!). I am no longer considered diabetic, no longer use my cpap, and have no issues with high blood pressure. Woohoo!!
The issue I do have is with low blood sugar. This took a while to figure out but once we knew what it was then my food was adjusted accordingly. #1 rule I have to live by is NEVER skip a meal or a snack. I just cannot do that. I have to eat on a regular schedule (usually every 2-3 hours) and I must have some carbs/protein before I exercise. My sugars crash very rapidly when I exercise so this has to be a priority.
I honestly have no regrets what so ever!! This is the best thing I have EVER done for ME. I am happy and healthy so what more could I ask for!!
Now for the picts.....
My daughter and I (December 08-228 lbs)
Dr Kim & I (Dec 2011) 134 lbs
Me today (137)
My advice is dont "try" to stop too soon. Definately get to goal BEFORE any decision is made. It is easier to put weight on than take it off, as we all know from past experiance.
Good luck!!
Good for YOU!!!
