IUD/birth control and blood clots during surgery

I'm certainly no MD but I've had a Mirena since 2007--yes I know, it's *dead* now (not releasing any hormones). I never had it removed for surgery, never was even considered an issue. It is a foreign body for sure, but I've never had any issues with it (other than it accomplished its mission) and hopefully got me through menopause.

Frankly I don't care if I die with it in me, it's plastic. Can't feel it, can't see it without speculum and might hurt worse taking it out than leaving it in.

I had mine during surgery and did not have any problems.
