Getting it done- Day 1
I walked 1/2 a mile today (2/7/12) according to my pedometer and printed off a 12 week workout log as well as some diet plans that look reasonably doable for someone with bariatric surgery. I saw the PA from my surgeons office and got my weight limit raised to 30 pounds. It doesn't seem like much but at this point I will take whatever I can get. I can walk but not run and this point i'm looking at walking at a fairly quick pace as do-able as well. Printed off the application for the closest MsFitness competition and hopefully will be ready for this by August 4th. I also ordered some work out DVDs for when I can't get into a gym or use the fitness room at my work . I think I'm organized and ready to rock as soon as the powers that be give me the ok.
Did i mention I am a little nervous about doing this but kind of excited at the same time. Starting out on the journey to fulfilling a (nearly) lifelong dream gives me butterflies in my stomach.

You are doing great! Just don't push yourself too hard early out, especially abdominally. I remember feeling so anxious to start moving again, but I wasn't "quite right" for at least 5 or 6 weeks. I have heard of people pulling internal stitches and stuff like that even though they thought they were feeling great. I had to keep telling myself, I just get one chance to heal.
I remember my first Pilates class after surgery. I was so weak, I cried. The second class was even harder. But it all came back and more. I think I'm reaping the benefit of taking a 74-lb weight off my body! Your healing time will fly by and you'll be in MsFitness in no time!!
Thanks Happy! I am trying not to over do but still do what I can for now. I hate that weak feeling and I am so looking forward to getting stronger. It's tough to be unable to do some of the normal stuff because I get worn out so quick but I just keep adding a little more as I can here and there. Today's goal is 1/2 mile walking and 5 trips up and down the stairs.
