Dunno. I'm not a real carb-aholic. But don't get me started on chocolate..... for me, it's a day long thing. Once the day is over; I can start all over again the next day back on track...but that's me.

Hang in there -- you can do it !!

In that case, you *are* a carb-a-holic,unless you are eating totally unsweetened chocolate. The sugar in chocholate candy is pure carbs, pure simple sugar.

That's why when you get started on it ,it becomes an all day thng. the more you eat,the more you crave.

The more carbs I have, the more I want, and it usually takes me a few low carb days to really cut out the cravings.

I think your mind is playing tricks on you.  The quest bars are high carb, but most of it is fiber which doesn't play with your blood sugars the way regular carbs do.  I think the bar only runs at 4 carbs if you net out the fiber.  Unless you're really REALLY carb sensitive, it shouldn't be causing you a problem.

For the most part protein bars are just glorified candy bars.  You have woken up your snack/candy/cookie/cake tooth.

Not all cravings are from carbs, some of them come from old habits, and there are some things that once you have them, you have re-opened the door for your want-er to start demanding whatever it will.

And demand, it will.  Some things, for some folks, are best left alone until you get to where you want to be. We get to figure out what those things are for us, its just part of the learning curve.  Be a little gentle with your words about yourself and be a good friend. Good friends do not feed other good friends foods that make them crazy.

yes, this has been my experience. it could also be the sugar alcohols,if the bar has those. any ingredient ending in "tol" is a sugar alcoho. Sugar alcohols affect me just like regular sugar.

Something in the bar is causing you an "insulin spike" which makes you want to eat more of it. Insulin spikes also cause us to store fat instead of burning it.

I purchased both the sample packs - all natural and original before I recieved my free two bars: Chocolate Brownie and Cinnamon Roll. I tried the brownie one and wasn't too impressed. I read their FB page and everyone RAVES about them. I'm hoping that I find something in one of the packs that I like. I'm thinking I'm going to wait until after my surgery or during my preop diet to eat the rest (rather than trying them). That way I'll be hard up for food and maybe it will make me appreciate them more. LOL!

I've never tried it, but lots of people suggest nuking them in the microwave for 10 seconds to get them warm and melty.

I'm not a big fan of protein bars in general - I'd rather eat  real food!  But there are times when you need to grab and go, or you're travelling, or nothing else is available, and they're great for those situations.
