Just got off the phone with the docs office. They sent the part of my tummy they removed over to pathology and pathology found a big ole freakin tumor. Benign thank the godess but are you kidding me? A tumor? This is starting to feel a lot like Ripley's Believe It or Not over here.

Whatttt? Oh my goodness...It is being biopsied right? They found several benign polyps in my fundus; I guess it is quite common. Please keep us posted on the outcome.

If they know it is benign then that means it was checked.

I meet with the doc on the 7th to discuss it but the nurse said it was benign so I shouldn't worry. um yeah ok I get calls about tumors in my stomach everyday so its not a big deal (sarcasm). Just a little shell shocked I think. But doing some research to see what if anything I can do to prevent this happening again.

Ok, that is a totally difficult phone call.  I know that hearing the news is difficult- I can totally relate.  I am a cancer patient- please take comfort in knowing that it is benign.  That does mean it doesn't spread (metastatic),  Consequently, if it was removed it is indeed a done deal.

I would gently suggest that you write down a list of all of the questions that you have and prepare for your next visit/phone call.  I have found that in normal doctor appointments this is not neceesary for me.  For my cancer appointments, however, I seem to shut down quickly and leave without having any idea what was just discussed.  And I forget to ask questions.  Now, I make a habit of writing them down and taking notes on the answer to force myself to process at least enough to be able to go back through the notes later.  My one doctor also recognizes that I am pretty much a mental idiot so he has me repeat back what was covered and asks me quiz type questions to confirm that I do not have misconceptions.  It always surprises me when I get a quiz question wrong- my brain seems to immediatly go to worse case scenarios and filling in gaps.  He undoes this by the questioning.

Hang in there and sending you hugs!!

Happyteacher, questions list begun, research also begun. I only have 15% of a stomach left so I am not going to be taking any chances on something like this happening with what I have left lol. Just want to make sure all my bases are covered. And I am bad at remembering what I meant to ask so I have a notebook that goes with me to all doc appointments now and I too take notes lol. I am sorry to hear about the cancer, I hope they can get it in remission for you very soon. Sending lots of healing vibes for you!

Good Lord! What a phone call.  I think I would have passed out from the shock.
It is wonderful that it was benign.  I can't believe they told you this on the phone,
benign or not.  That seems a little cold.  People don't deal with this kind of information
every day.  Bless your heart.  I pray all goes well from here on out.  My healthcare provider
told me they will send my stomach removal to pathology also.  It seems to be the
norm for it to be checked. Good Luck.
