Restriction & Under Eating Your Sleeve 2plus Years Out

I have found that I do not plan when I will eat but I only eat when I feel hungry (I do plan what I will eat though). It took some time to figure it out but generally I eat 4 meals a day and space them about 3-5 hours apart.  I can only eat about 4 to 6 bites of food per meal. but the main thing is to listen to your body and not to head hunger.  When you dont pay attention to what your eating or while your eating mistakes happen. You give great advice here and I appreciate your willingness to impart your knowledge to the rest of us. Thank you

I too like what you said, but my problem is that if I eat 1 oz of chicken, I am starving in less than an hour.  I do agree 100% with not eating until you are stuffed.  The only two times I did that was to test my sleeve and I felt like CRAP afterwards.  I can't see how anyone would find that appealing.  :)

Coming up on my 3rd hour and just now getting to my tea..... I know there is still some chicken in there and my pyloric is still partially closed cause after only a couple ounces of tea.... I can feel it pushing back a little.....

NOTE: this does not happen with me with all foods.... Chicken Breast for some reason hangs in there the longest.....

This is a very interesting post, I can't wait to see more weight in on this. Especially tonight, where I very came close to overfilling my sleeve for the first time. I made the mistake of making two eggs with cheese, when I'm still only comfortable with one. I figure I would have a little bit more if I was still hungry after one, and give the rest to my husband. BIG MISTAKE. I didn't eat the whole thing, but eating over the one egg was too much. Planning to still be hungry or wanting more leads to overfilling, because apparently my tastes buds overpowered my sleeve. I will NOT be making that mistake another time.

Personally, I am more comfortable when I carefully measure my portion first and then take out a spoon or two so I can undereat my sleeve. I will keep reminding myself of this as my new stomach gets more and more comfortable with food - before it gets too comfortable.

Tonight was scary.

I guess I don't understand the concept well. I don't know if I ever had the foamies or whatever before but I ate something once that felt like a log in my stomach and throat and now I hate it and don't want anything to do with it. I usually stop eating when I feel the food hit the side of the walls of my stomach. I tried to explain that once here but I don't know if it made sense. Sometimes I eat my whole 2- 2 1/2oz and don't feel the food in there and sometimes I eat 1 or 1 1/2 ounces and it touches it and I'm done. Also, I know I'm done if I burp twice. One time can be random but the second time I know it's for real. I don't know if at these points I'm under eating, properly eating, or over eating my sleeve.

Frisco, I see that essentially you are a smaller man and so maybe 1 ounce at a time is working for you now.  My question is did you eat more when you were larger and as you got smaller reduced your portions?

Right now for me 2ounces of dense protein satiates me and would last several hours if I did not drink an hour after eating.  How am I to get my fluids in and yet try to stay satisfied on smaller portions. Any ideas?

So.... Just to be clear....

I can and do eat more than 1oz. My main baseline is 2oz. Protein and 1oz. Veggies.....

My point is that I have always under ate my sleeve capacity and still maintain "Maximum" restriction for my given sleeve size. And for people to try and hit a minimum sometimes than always trying to hit maximum.

I figure my capacity to be about the same as about when I was 4-5 months out and I don't see it changing much unless "I" change "it".

I am pretty into the whole under eating my sleeve thing. Once I understood what you were talking about, it made total sense. From the day I got sleeved nothing has passed my lips that wasn't measured in some way (at home on the scale - in a restaurant I portion out by sight and usually under eat that...terrified to puke in public!).

Following the rules and sticking to the undereating philosophy and eating slowly has resulted in some positives for me:

1. My longest stall so far has been 4 days at the three week stall. Since then I've lost steadily at 2-3 pounds per week.

2. I have never thrown up, have not experienced the foamies and have never experienced pain or discomfort after eating.

Granted some days I know I could eat more, but I don't. Some days I can't eat my weighed out 2 oz portion.

I do eat 5 times a day ( 3 meals, 2 snacks)  plus one protein coffee in the morning to get my calories and protein in. It's working for me. Honestly, I don't feel like I have to eat that frequently, but that's the only way I can meet my nutrition goals for the day.

Thanks for introducing us all to your method. It's sure working for me!
