Restriction & Under Eating Your Sleeve 2plus Years Out

Just thinking out loud.......

Here is my un scientific result/observation from Under Eating

I am over two years out...... lost all my excess weight in just over a year and been maintaining the same weight over a year...... I'm not outta the woods yet..... but can see my future (weight control) pretty clear.

I have been an un-official case study with my surgeon for under eating my sleeve capacity from the get go..... sure... I've hit the end a few times by accident.....have had the foamies a few times.....

Most people determine their restriction on "HOW MUCH THEY CAN EAT"

I say yes....that is a measure..... but the wrong way to measure......

I just weighed out 2oz. Roasted Chicken Breast.......mixed up a Mayo/Greek Yogurt/Sriracha for lube and flavor.

For most people including myself..... Chicken Breast is the most dense protein and sure to close my Pyloric Valve shut tight !!!!

I just ate about 1oz. of my 2oz. portion.............I'm fine.... I'm all good!

I could eat a little more.... but why.... I feel it in my stomach.... I'm not FULL FULL.....I'M VERY Satisfied....my Pyloric Valve is closed.....and that food is gonna sit there for a while......

So, my point is...... Restriction is not really about about how "Much" you can eat.....Restriction is about how little you can eat MANY YEARS OUT when you really need it !!!!

Preserve your restriction by under eating you sleeve capacity !!!!!

LOOK LOOK at the BIG PICTURE !!!!! Sure, this surgery is about weight loss.....fine...do that.......

This surgery is really about keeping the weight off after you have lost it......

This is where I'm confused though Frisco... you guys are supposed to be getting 90-110 protein right? You aren't getting that eating 1 oz of chicken, you'd need 2 plus protein shakes right?

(not arguing with you, I've only eaten to "full" a few times myself - I don't like the sensation, so I don't pu****). I'm just honestly curious how you reconcile those two things.

Of course, I had popcorn and queso for dinner, so I'll be slugging a 35 gram drink later. Salty cravings got me, I hate men. Well, except for you, of course!

Guys are supposed to get 90 grams of protein during WL and can be less for maintenance. I get between 60-90 on average. I do have a protein shake w/fruit on most days. I love em now that they are not mandatory and I can add fruit.

I eat more times a day.....but I don't say that or promote that on this main board cause it could promote grazing. The way I eat could be perceived as grazing if you didn't look at the time between my feeds. Your question.....reveals that you totally get the math......!!!!

Yeah, I recently started doing shakes again to get things moving because I was making myself crazy. I've been trying to hit 100 protein these days and 10-12 glasses of water, it seems to be the key for me for keeping the weight loss going. My metabolism or something is just completely shocked so it was time to mix it up a little.

That makes sense. I was just trying to follow along how the heck you manage to stay upright ;) I know from your other posts that 1 oz isn't typical, but was just wondering. You probably don't have to track as closely these days too. There are "bad" days when food just isn't really happening for me, so yeah, the grazing thing comes into play just to get something in. Those are my "oh screw this noise" days when I think I could actually go stark raving mad. (-der)

Gracias! You're rockin' it, Frisco... but you already knew that! xoxo

i don't think it's wrong to say you do this - i have to as well.
i am a revision & already at goal - but i can't eat more than an ounce at a time.   i struggle to get to 500 calories a day, even with double scoop protein drinks.
for example, went to lunch yesterday - got a roasted beet & chicken salad.   i picked on it the rest of the day & evening.
i still had some for breakfast.

i'm not sure how long this restriction will last, but i'm aware of another sleeve patient that has to eat like i do, every 2 hrs or so of high protein - VERY small amt.

i'm glad you mentioned this - because there are some that do have to graze to get in the calorie/protein requirements.

Thats a terrific way to think about it. I'm still at the point where I am trying to figure out what is satiation and what is too much though, because some things I can take two or three baby spoon bites of and i'm done and somethings I can eat a whole 1/4 cup of and still feel hungry. This is definitely something to look into because like you said this is supposed to be about keeping the weight off long term.

I've seen you post on this regularly and i know a lot of your success has to do with this philosophy.   However this is one of those "one size doesn't fit all things".  i liked the idea of this.  It made sense to me.  However it was not a possibility for me.  If i eat under my sleeve i am hungry in 11/2 to 2 hours.  Part of what is comfortable for me is NOT to be thinking of food all day.  That is to get meal time over and not think about it again for 31/2 to 4 hours.  Having to eat every 2 hours drives me crazy plus since under eating for me is not eating half a 2oz + veg portion just a little less it pushed up my carb count for the day. So do you eat 3-4 times a day or are you one of those 6 times, 3 with 3 snacks?

First.... I know that you know whats going on.... and although I do push a few fundamentals..... I'm all for what works for you..... My surgeon even promotes that which would surprise a lot of people..... he often say to his patients that are doing well......"Just Keep Doing What Your Doing"

So.... the thing that does urk me is when I get placed into the "one size all" thing.... or "the cookie cutter" term......

There are Waaaayyyy more "Eat till your full" eaters out there..... so they should be deemed "One size fits all" more than my under eating message.

Here is some of my reality.....I been through the hungry every 2 hour thing...... for me....If I conditioned myself to eat every 2 hours guess what... I got hungry every 2 hours.... I eat about every 3-4 hours... sometimes longer.... and I get hungry from about 3-4 hours.

Again... that's my reality... yours may be different.....

I eat between 3-6 times a day..... a meal... a snack.... there all kinda the same.... I just call them feedings......

I think you misunderstood me.  I didn't mean that eating under your sleeve was a one size fits all in fact i think you are the only one i've seen post about it with any regularity.  No, i meant that I felt it was a very good idea but infortunately could not adhere to it, so it did not fit me.  Sorry if i wasn't clear.

Probably my bad.......and after re-reading your post...a couple things.... you figured out your groove and it's working for you...... gotta love it and no one can argue if it's working for you....props to that!

Also....you probably are eating under your sleeve capacity.....I got no sense from your post that you are "not" eating till discomfort and you have great spacing between meals.....

Edit: forgot to put the "not" in there....big difference!
