How is the weight of obesity measured?

There exists no consensus in the mental health profession, on the importance of addressing obesity.   That is a shame, because it is the elephant being ignored in the therapy room. Up to 24 Approved CEU hours.

We know that obesity and mental health problems manifest together:

Obese clients are more likely to develop clinical depression

Obese parents are more likely to have obese children

Social problems ranging from bullying to public expense are related to obesity

Americans are getting bigger and wider each year; as they do physical health deteriorates and the emotional and family therapy issues of cancer, diabetes and heart disease manifest.

Anxiety, substance addiction and even serious psychiatric disorders are related to obesity, body image, illness or self-esteem.

As a mental health professional it is impossible to work with clients and not encounter issues related to obesity.  Are you prepared to provide the evidenced-based protocols that help clients find solutions?
