So went to Walmart tonight to get some chewable vitamins and was looking at the adult vitamins and comparing them to childrens vitamins as far as nutrients went. The adult vitamins were more expensive and in some cases had less nutrients that the kids vitamins. I just decided after about the 4th label to skip the adult ones and go with the kids vitamins. Anyone else notice this?

Check with your doctor. You are an adult that takes in less food than even a less than average adult. You probably need bariatric vitamins. I prefer Celebrate Vitamins, but there's also Bariatric Advantage. But, please talk to your doctor before buying them if you don't have a guideline in your paperwork.

Candy, my nut gave me the values my surgeon recommends for the sleeve and it's not a problem to meet those values with the childrens chewables. I also got the Viactiv chewable calcium with extra D3 and K since the multi vitamin has the A and E also recommended for the sleeve. So Hopefully these will be okay for now but will definitely double check with my nut when I see her in a couple weeks.

Cool, as long as you follow your doctor, that's always my question - some aren't giving their paitients anything :) Mine wants me on bariatric vitamins for life... they are absorbed different and formulated just for those that have had WLS. My labs have been stellar, BUT if yours are okay and your doctor gives you that recommendation, by all means, stick with that they say - every paitient and every doctor is different!

Good luck!

I've often though of going to regular vitamins eventually, I figure once I hit goal, I'll talk about that with my PCP and maybe give it a 3 month trial or something :)

I should have added that my husband's nut said the children's vitamins were fine as well... she actually mentioned the flintsone's brand at one point, I think.

Besides, if you look at the label for dosages, it says how much adults should take.

My surgeon says a multivitamin 3 times a day. The label says adult doseage is 1 tablet per day. So I would take 3 multis throughout the day and 3 calcium as well and a B-12 once a week.

Viactive Calcium chews are not gonna work too well for you. Us sleevers cant absorb calcium carbonate (viactive's calcium type) well because of our reduced stomach acid. You need Calcium in the Calcium Citrate form. Calcium Citrate is actually 2.5 times more readily absorbed than Calcium Carbonate even if you had a normal stomach. You will not find chews that have the Calcium Citrate form unless you buy bariatric ones. Just don't want you to continue to waste your money and take something thats really not going to benefit you much.
