Protein Coffee

First, I cannot do powdered, so don't even suggest it. Doesn't matter what it's mixed with, I gag.

So, are you guys just putting shakes into coffee like you would creamer? Doesn't the hot temp of the coffee affect the protein's usefulness? I've recently re-found my love of coffee. While I like it black, I thought well... might be a way to add some protein to it.

I did search the archives, but I couldn't find anything other than "don't mix protein powder with hot liquid". Ummm.... help a girl out.

I drink my protein coffee every morning. I using Optimum Nutrition in Caramel Toffee Fudge or Cake Batter, or Syntrax Nectar in Vanilla Bean Torte. Here's what I do...while the coffee is brewing, I dump a scoop of powder in my mug, I then add 4 oz. of Almond Milk or Fat free milk and mix, mix, mix the powder in the cup. I then stir in the hot coffee and it incorporates just fine and makes my coffee delicious!! Good Luck!

I use the liquid protein with about 4 oz of coffee and then add skim milk or hazlenut SF liquid.  The liquid protein doesn't clump up.  I buy the liquid protein bottles in the refrig section at Meijer's, e.g. Bolton Farms - double check for protein grams - and then add that to my coffee.  Makes about 12-14 oz of liquid so it takes me all morning to drink - on the drive to work, and then all morning, but it's a good protein source and my coffee.

I like the chocolate protein with my coffee - Mocha with a splash of SF Hazelnut syrup... yum!!

Careful with the Bolthouse Farms! I like them too, but their perfect protein drinks bottles have 24-34g carbs (mostly sugar carbs) and only 10g protein. Depending on your plan, that may be more of one and not enough of the other.

Same as AngelaAnn.  The only trick is to totally dissolve the powder in cool/cold water or milk BEFORE you pour it into your coffee.  It pours in just like cream.  And, if you want to make extra sure you have no clumps, pour it through a fine sieve as well.

My Hubby is up a good two hours before me.  He makes the coffee and by the time I get up the machine is off but still warm.  I mix my Nectar Chocolate Powder with it every morning.  Nothing else.  Super tasty and no carbs. I have found though if I let the coffee cool down just a little bit and put the powder in there it doesn't clump.  My other favorite is iced coffee with the chocolate powder, its really good.  I like drinking it after a workout.

I stayed away from caffeine for the first few months after surgery, then went back to fully leaded coffee.
