Surgery on Monday--any last minutes tips or hints?

wow, I remember when I posted the same thing. Feb 1st will be 2 yrs I had my surgery. My list of what i took and actually used was, my cell phone and charger, chap stick, toothbrush and tooth paste, brush, pony holder, clothes to go home in. I didnt bring pjs, they gave me 2 gowns, u wear one in front, one in back. I wore the slipper socks they gave me. after my surgery I got my room about 1pm. I pretty much slept till 10 pm that night, on and off. they got me out at 10, but its hard to walk w/ a im pole and a cath coming out of u. They wanted to make sure I was passing enough fluid. The next morning they took out the cath, though I still had the iv. They sent me for a gi to make sure no leaks, and omfg, the stuff was bad, I wanted to puke. No leaks, I got sugar free jello, and ice chips and tea and I dont remember what else. Pretty much ate sf jello and ice chips. I had a good experience, no issues, and would do it again in a heartbeat, only thing is I wouldnt of waited as long as I did to decide to do it...Any questions feel free to ask..
well you don't need much. I needed more stuff for travel since i went to a hospital 6 hours away. assuming you are not doing that, take as little as possible. they give you gowns and these socks so only bring those if you think you will hate hospital stuff. make sure you have medication list and see if your surgeon will let you fill the ones he/she will prescribe ahead of time so you aren't waiting for them post op. chap stick is essential.
depending on what your surgeon's post op diet is, you might bring your own protein drinks that comply with day one and day two requirements. the ones the hospital had tasted terrible and had I known would have brought my own - just be sure they qualify for what your surgeon approves as not all do.
gl you are gonna love your sleeve. Diane

Make sure you have some very loose clothes handy. I had to go out and buy larger underwear because I couldn't stand how tight mine were right after surgery. Lots of bloating that takes a week or two to get rid of. Move things you frequently use to make them more reachable. I prepped some mushy foods into single servings and froze them. It was much easier to plan my meals, especially once I went back to wor**** cube trays work great for that. Each cube is about 1 oz. Get some SF Popsicle to have on hand. They count towards your fluids and go down pretty easy. If you aren't already tracking your food, you should start. MyFitnessPal or Sparkpeople are popular. I like MyFitnessPal better. Take your measurements as a baseline. It gives you something to focus on when you hit a stall. Pay your bills ahead of time so you don't forget! Wonder how I know that one? LOL Good luck!
oops, almost forgot...start adding Benefiber or similar to your drinks. it's good to have some stool softener in the house too. constipation is a problem for many of us.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments! My hubby is worried I am going to cause him to have an anxiety attack over all my fretting to get stuff done. He works with me, so he sees the home prep and work prep. Staying late tonight to finish up some client stuff. Tomorrow I will work some on getting he house ready. Sunday family comes in. Then Monday the real work starts. Can't wait!
