Mirolax worked for me too, only needed to take it 2x week too.  I was huge pysllium husk and veggie person before surgery, but surgeon told me to watch to much roughage as its hard on our tummies.  He told me to stick to Mirolax or Milk of Magnesia.  Found the Mirolax went down very easily, just mixed it in 4 oz of apple juice, or 8 oz of diluted apple juice.  Did the trick for me.  Was so exciting when I went again.  And not to be to graphic but I had some difficulty too, because I have a hemroid.  Good luck!

Having dealt with an anal fissure (and it rears it's ugly head sometimes as well, but so far I haven't had to have surgery again, thank goodness), please take care of this issue NOW.

I take Miralax every day or every other day. It's non habit forming, I just put a capful in a bottle of water or something each morning and you don't taste it or see it. I was told by my fissure surgeon and my PCP that and I can take this forever, basically, if needed.

Trust me... fissures are not fun.

They are definitely miserable. I was mortified going in for surgery for them. It sucked worse for a few days, but got better. I am having an issue now too, actually, BUT it doesn't seem chronic. If the pain lasts more than 12 hours, I have to go in. After you get one, you are more apt to recur :(

I actually use Fiber Gummies.  After my surgery I was MAJORLY constipated. Sorry this is going to be TMI, before surgery I was going multiple times a day.  So I was really concerned.  I took a dulcolax once and my tummy hurt for awhile.  So now I take the gummies everyday twice a day and it works for me.  I go at least every other day if not every day.

Just discussed this with my bariatricteam and was told to take benefibre daily and a stool softener (not a laxative).  I was told that if you daily before surgery that is what they want you to be doing post surgery.  For me its more like every 4 days.  I just started this new routine and will see how it goes.

How much fibre is in the gummies?

I have taken the following things with only a little success... the best thing is for me to get in lots of fiber (at least 15 grams a day)...

Fiber Gummies...tasty but not enough bang for the buck

Milk of Magnesia...gross and only works sometimes

Mirolax...helps more than the MoM for me...but takes days to work

Dulcolax/stool softeners...help things from becoming "little rocks" coming out but have to combine with Mirolax to work well

Garden of Life fiber...very effective but takes days to work...i like to make "oatmeal" with it...

Oats...very helpful to keep things moving

Salads...great for helping things move thru but hurt my sleeve...

I take 3 stool softeners every day, probiotics, and sometimes add Citrucel fiber caplets.  I don't have the normal urge to go to the bathroom, so I have devote time every day to "concentrating" on the throne...lol  I don't get very much out and it's in little pellet form (sorry for the visual) but at least things are moving.

The Dulcolax worked for me but I was up at 2am and had to get up at 5am for work so did not sleep well last night!  Salads also hurt my sleeve!  Well, last I tried a unwich from Jimmy Johns and only had a few bites but the lettuce went right thru me!  Yep, I also had the pellets...lol

I was doing o****il the lsat 3-4 weeks or so. I finally took MoM last night and it helped within 2 hours. Yep.. its tastes like my dog's ass... but it worked.

I'm going to try the fiber gummies. Good luck and hey... thanks everyone for the visuals!!! lMAO
