How I start my week

Even when I'm not having the best week, I always start my Monday's off with my food ready for the week. So, I thought I'd share -

One of the biggest keys for me to be successful is always having a plan, and being prepared. I suck at making decisions when I'm hungry or stressed, so this method has really worked for me. I have all my meals pre-measured and ready to grab. I usually have some kind of meat and veggies for my lunches/dinners.

I experimented with some egg white muffins this week for the first time and I'm excited. I used a normal cupcake pan, so with 4 tbs egg whites and 1/4 cup of veggies (onions and bell peppers), each muffin is just under 50 cal and are extremely filling. Convenient breakfast food!

nice very well organized, I really need to plan my meals out better. I always have an idea of what I'm going to cook and eat. The only organization going in my kitchen is that I portion out my meats into 3-4 oz baggies before I freeze them, which is a big help.

Hi Allison,
Thanks for posting this! When it comes to organizing to this extent, I suck at it! LOL! I do make sure that I take a piece of protein and sometimes a veggie, and some snacks like Weigh****chers string cheese.  I am trying to do better with the veggies, but not a lot of room sometimes!

Hey I think the egg in the cupcake pan is a great idea and something different than my boiled eggs that I eat every morning!! Can you tell me what temp do you place them on in the oven??

Thanks!

Tanya

Sure. I chopped up my veggies (im going to try a little meat next time) and put them in the bottom of the cupcake pan, and then poured in 4 tbs of egg whites, and baked them for 30 minutes on 375.

I recommend trying some kind of spices or something because they way i did it they are really plain. Doesnt bother me too much, but theyd definitely benefit from a little taste.

Allison you have always been one of the vets I've admired and listened to. Again you have come up with a great post showing what good habits look like. I'm going to try your egg thingies! Thanks again for your hard work and willingness to share.

This is the single most important thing i attribute to my staying on plan.  Sundays i cook so i have meals for the rest of the week.  I thank Kimbethin for first suggesting this on here because i was truly lost just with having to think about what  to eat.  So i do individual meat loafs, bacon cheeseburgers (without the bread) pot roasts, little eggplant noodle less lasagna, Indian chicken. Pot roast, etc.  From you ACK i got turned onto the lean turkey meatballs from Louis rich, from Brandilynn, buffalo chicken salad.  I love just having it there waiting for me.

Totally agree. I dont trust myself to make rational choices in food or portion size when Im having a bad day lol.

I add all my food to MFP before I leave home for the day so it takes A LOT of the work out of the process.

That is awesome! I think this is where I have failed so many times before. I am going to work hard on doing better with this, when my times comes. I don't know if I will be able to do the whole week, but I will try to at least be prepared for the day.

Honestly, bc my portions are so small, its almost harder to cook one meal at a time. If I'm going to waste time cooking (yes, I hate it that much) then I'm going to just get a bunch of meals out of it. It works for me though since im single with no kids  - id imagine its different if you have other people to think about/feed.

I usually pack my lunch or assemble the night before so that I dont have any excuses of running late or too tired. I just grab and go :)
