Bad News
So I filled out my renewal application for BadgerCare tonight and I got denied because my job offers health insurance. So Feburary 1st I lose my benefits. My surgery is scheduled for Feb 1st. i see my surgeon and my pcp in the morning and I am definitely planning to see if I can get my surgery date moved up. I can't have gone through all of this hard work for nothing. I just don't know what else to do now. I can't afford my insurance from work and I don't even know if it covers bariatric surgery or if they would even cover a surgery thats already scheduled. My head hurts now.....
I went through something similar. I was planning to have my sleeve in January and then found out in November that my husbands insurance was changing and the new insurance would not cover any weight-loss surgery whatsoever. I called my surgeon freaking out and they told me they would do the surgery December 14th instead. If your insurance has already approved the surgery I would beg them to do the surgery next week! Hopefully, they will have OR privledges that week at the hospital.
Good Luck

Hey girlie. I might have some info for you. I live in Eau Claire WI and had the exact same situation with my badgercare through security health. I called around and Dr Pitchford in Eau Claire got me in for surgery in 5 days. So I only did a 5 day pre-op. If your surgeon cant do it by the 31st then give Dr Pitchfords office a call at 715-858-4500 and talk to his nurse and explain the situation. She is a miracle worker when it comes to getting you in quickly.
Thanks Tanie, i wrote down the info and will talk to my surgeon about what to do tomorrow. i am praying that I can get in earlier. I know my tribal health benefits dont cover wls unless i can get to a tribal hospital that does surgery too but thank fully i can get all my follow up and any meds at the clinic about an hour away from here. not giving up but feeling awfully stressed out at the moment lol.
I don't know about your particular doctor, but it seems like most of these surgeons are able to get people in pretty quickly when they have to. My husband had his date scheduled before he had all his clearances in, because he told them he had to have the surgery done before the end of the year for tax purposes. They accommodated him, and his dr has a bit of a reputation for being inflexible.
Like tanie said, though, don't be afraid to call around and find a different surgeon if yours can't get to you that quickly. I'm sure it'll work out somehow

I agree with other posters. Once I had my final clearance, I was in for a date in less than two weeks- they totally accomdated the teacher holiday for me. Made a huge difference for me and my students :) I bet you can get a day earlier. Your doc isn't going to want to turn down the revenue ;)
