Pelvic Floor Reconstruction AFTER WLS-anyone else have this done? Ladies???
I have now reached my goal plus a couple of additional pounds so I've lost a total of 155 to date. I started running about 6 months ago and have been doing Zumba classes and was noticing things in the "female" region were not feeling exactly as they used to. I was having to pee a lot and so I went to my gynecologist to get the scoop...I will also say that I will be 50 this summer and have had 4 kids, 2 of which were almost 10# . My gyne said this was all a normal consequence of aging, large or multiple kids and extreme weight loss. I needed a Pelvic Floor Reconstruction. THANK GOD my insurance covers this proceedure as it is medically necessary and not "cosmetic". I went in 12/28 and had to stay overnight. I can honestly say that working out and being in shape is awesome as I had NO PAIN what so ever. I was supposed to be off work 6 weeks but I'm being allowed to go back after only 3 because I'm doing so well. I will have a lifting restriction of 25# and no running until July but well worth it. My bladder is back in place and I'm looking forward to what is to come.
On a more "personal" note...my hubby had noticed a difference when we made love and this was also part of the issue. My gyne told him when I came out of surgery it should be like the first time again...if you get my meaning...have to wait 6 weeks so can't give any info yet....but lets just say we're BOTH looking forward to that day!
I'm curious if anyone else has had these issues after WLS and how your surgery/recovery went?

I just (12/21/11) had Pelvic Reconstruction. This was my second time, the first being done at the same time as my hysterectomy 6 years ago.
The first time the idiot doctor (long story, ended up with lots of complications from which I almost died due to his inadequacy, he no longer practices in this state) only used my own weakened tissue to restructure the vault floor. This time the surgeon did use the Trans-Vag Mesh and my recovery has been wonderful.
I'm still within the 6 weeks post-op, so I can't tell you how the sex is. The first time around I was 100+ lbs heavier, so sex wasn't the great to start with! LOL
I've worked as a CNA with lifting, etc for years, but since VSG I've also picked up and transitioned my primary job to one with much more lifting. I'm assuming this is why my 'parts started falling out' again, altho I didn't claim it as workers compensation as it was caused primarily due to weakened tissue from being MO for 25+ years.
Gotta admit....there's nothing quite like taking a shower and wondering 'when did I grow a set??!!' LOL At least having worked with prolapses with my clients I knew what was happening and didn't freak out.
Hope you are recovering well. Best wishes.
